Child Tax Credit
Child Tax Credit

We are running one of the IRS Vita Centers in Puerto Rico. There we guide people so that they can complete their federal return and obtain the Child Tax Credit. Which became available in Puerto Rico this year with the American Rescue Plan Act. At the same time, the CTC increased to $3,000 for each eligible dependent between 6 and 17 years of age, and to $3,600 for each eligible dependent 5 years of age or younger. This tax credit will be of great benefit to our country where the poverty rate exceeds 45%. Also the provision of this service will cause greatest impact because in the future this person can prepared their own and their communities tax return.

Thanks for helping those who help!

This year has brought many challenges; however we have achieved many things and among these is:

  • completing the 10 modules for NPOs,
  • launching the Tax and Regulatory Aspects module and
  • having consistently achieved an increase in knowledge of 20% in all our modules.

With this new year we hope to finalize our strategic planning process, add a module about program evaluation, celebrate our 15th anniversary and above all continue improving our services in the Educational Program, Technical Assistance Program, AFU (our internship) and AFC Precheck all directed to strengthen the NPOs in Puerto Rico.

We are counting on you!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, The AFC Team wishes you

The pandemic has been tough for everyone. However, despite the difficulties, we continue to move forward. This past weekend we participated in the first convention after the pandemic. The purpose of it was to recruit volunteers and start the sale of our fundraising activity. In it, the participants will receive a virtual cooking class on how to make a fideua, which is the same as a paella but instead of rice, noodles. There will be music and more. Support us, with your contribution you allow thousands of people in Puerto Rico to receive the services they need, strengthening nonprofits in the island. Thanks, Aida.

Due to the pandemic in AFC as in all non-profit organizations (NPO) we had to reinvent ourselves. Resulting, in the offering of fully online webinars and modules for the first time. In addition to the technical assistance service offered to organizations in aspects related to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), virtual office implementation, among others. With the PPP services provided, more than 40 non-profit organizations obtained in total over 2 million in aid to maintain the payroll. At the same time, the AFU internship continued, also the implementation of 7 modules and the offering of webinars according to the emerging needs of the Third Sector.

We are currently working on a campaign so that people displaced from their jobs due to the pandemic are reintegrated into the work environment in Puerto Rico, this through pasoapasopr.com

Help us by sharing the link pasoapasopr.com!

At AFC we are unstoppable!

In order to ensure the provision of services on the island, we move according to the changes in the nonprofit ecosystem.

Thanks to your help we continue.

Hope you and your family are good and healthy. A new year is always a new beginning and a opportunity to keep going with the things that remain undone.

Last year we reinvent ourselves by:

  • expanding our internship program called AFU to a one year experience,
  • provide the internship for the first time completely online,
  • begin our webinars and
  • begin the implementation of our educational modules for the nonprofits.

We also provide orientation to 44 nonprofits so they can apply for the Paycheck Protection Program and assist over 50 organizations through the Technical Assistance Program.

This year with more strength, knowledge and experience we will go foward. Thanks to your help we have done all of this imagine what more we can do. This year undoubtedly is a fresh start for all of us.

Thanks for join us in these adventure,
