Dear Donors and supporters,
Greetings from IDEA !
We are thankful for your donation and support for our project . In the month of February and March children were busy preparing for exams. So the activities during the last quarter started with ‘ how to study ‘ workshops, helping students to score good marks in Mathematics & Science . After the exams various informative sessions and activities for skill development were held. Some of the activities are described below:-
FOR IMPROVING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
INFORMATIVE SESSIONS
In slums children and adolescents are exposed to many vices. So IDEA regularly conduct sessions on de-addiction with the help of volunteers, trainee social workers and even experts from the field . These sessions are held in small groups so that the participants are comfortable in clearing their doubts and seek help from the experts.
The traffic is increasing in Pune day by day. The roads are busy all day. So the rate of ‘Traffic Jam’ situation and the accidents are increasing. The children are at risk while coming and going to school. Therefore a session on road safety was conducted in two schools for young children covering 180 children. It included understanding the traffic rules, importance of following them, consequences of disobeying rules etc.
A group of volunteers from a company and a few social work students gave information in an interesting manner- through stories and folk songs and dance. There was also a question-answer session at the end. The children were given coloring book with the road safety message.
After finishing the final exams in school marginalized children are not lucky enough to occupy in any constructive activities .IDEA organize ‘summer Camp’ for them every year in various locations benefiting such poor children .
A three day camp for 30 adolescent boys and girls was held with a combination of activities like art and craft, creative thinking, health awareness and team building.
A session on story making was helpful to express the creative ideas and language development. An Art session on marble painting, paper quelling, pen stand making , drawing etc enriched them with new skills.
The concluding session was on awareness on Anaemia which is very common among Adolescents . The causes, its symptoms and self detection were also explained to them. A few recipes to enrich one’s iron intake were also taught to the participants.
We wish to convey our sincere thanks to you for your generous donation to this project. We request for your continued support so that more needy & deserving children can be benefitted .
