Dear friends,

Merry Christmas! You have our deepest thanks for supporting this project. Hope the new year brings new joys and new beginnings and the darkness disappears. Wishing you a very happy and healthy new year!

Here is a story of a star on top of a Christmas tree. A multitalented and a successful girl called Vanita (name has been changed to respect privacy).

Vanita has always been a bright student from our sponsorship program from past seven years. Our social workers have seen how she groomed herself with academic achievements and extracurricular activities. They remember the time when she had approached us and expressed her wish to study in a reputed college after completing her school final exam, but she was worried about the high fees. IDEA pitched in the right time and sponsored her college fees. She liked dancing and drawing then and got ample opportunities to express her inner talent through IDEA’s youth group activities and life skill sessions. She had also expressed her wish to be a researcher or a doctor in future life.

During graduation, she learned German language. She worked part time as a receptionist in a clinic to shell out money for her other expenses. Her parents could not study much but they encouraged her to study further. Her younger sister is in 8th grade. They live in a small two room house. Her mother stitches clothes with a meagre income and her father works as a driver with a monthly salary of Rs. 15,000. Vanita quit her job after three years because she wanted to focus on her degree in Industrial Microbiology and could not find enough time. She lacked communication skills then. Our social worker worked on her patiently and motivated her to face the crowd with confidence. She excelled herself through Digital Literacy course, resume writing and interview workshops conducted by IDEA. She was planning to take a loan for purchasing a laptop, but she was overjoyed to receive it in donation from us and it helped her complete the college assignments.

This year, Vanita completed a master’s degree in Bioinformatics and got a nice job immediately after the internship. She works as a Domain Specialist with an annual pay package of 5 lac. Indeed, a proud moment for us and her parents. Presently she works from home. A person like her can be very versatile. She is a great painter and a dancer as well. Baking was her hobby before. Now she has mastered the skill and takes cake orders from home. Her father had borrowed some loan to meet the household needs and Vanita helps him repay the loan.

Vanita says:

“I was really fortunate to receive sponsorship from IDEA foundation for my education and I became successful today as a benefit of that help. I have a respectable job in a good company with a decent salary. I am very grateful to IDEA and will be happy to provide support for the education of needy children like me.”

Thank you for sponsoring such shining stars who will spread the light. Your kind support helped her earn what she deserved. Please continue to shower your blessings. Have a safe and relaxing holiday season.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
