Dear Friends,
Our Educational Sponsorship project is growing by the year and it gives us great joy and a sense of pride to see our young friends flourish at school/ college as their confidence and personality evolve. We’ve had a busy past few months, here’s an update…
Felicitation Programme
Like every year, this year too IDEA Foundation organized a felicitation programme for students who passed their Secondary/ Higher Secondary/ College examinations successfully. The main objective of the programme was to appreciate the achievers for their success and to encourage and motivate other students to take more interest in their studies.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr. Todmal, who is a HOD at a reputed college, gave excellent insight into “How to overcome studies related problems”, “How to take stress free exams”, she also shared different studying techniques and tips to improve concentration. We congratulate all our achievers – Aniruddha, Rushiraj, Shubhangi, Avani and Vrushali for their superlative performances in their respective school/ college exams!
Life Skill Sessions
Life Skill Sessions on Health, Hygiene and Nutrition are routinely conducted by IDEA. Last month these sessions were conducted in Lamanvasti, which is amongst the most underprivileged communities in Pune. Dr. Ridhi who conducted the sessions immediately put the 25 adolescents to ease with her friendly banter.
She addressed various issues grappling adolescents like hormonal changes, emotional and mental changes etc. She explained the menstrual cycle and menstrual hygiene with help of videos which made it easy to understand. This topic was specifically taken up to dispel myths and taboos surrounding menstruation, which are common in some communities in India. Later the Dr. also advised them to eat lots of fruits and vegetables to maintain health. The session ended with Hygiene kit distribution.
Youth Club Formation
Apart from monetary support, students need a vibrant and compassionate community in order to thrive. For that we need the youth to become agents of change themselves so that they transform their communities into a network of support.
Some weeks back, a youth club was formed comprising of 25 dynamic youth from IDEA’s Sponsorship programme. The main objectives which were agreed upon by the youth club were-
- To build strong relationships and a network of like-minded organizations and individuals
- To get motivated and achieve self-development through skilling
- To inculcate leadership qualities and generate sense of responsibility in community youth
Mr. Kale was the perfect guest to address this youth club Meeting. Being a sponsored student of a NGO called CASP, he could connect with the group by narrating his journey of overcoming obstacles, completing his education and achieving great success in the IT field working in a reputed IT company in Pune. He credits the concept of educational sponsorship for his success. This definitely motivated the youth and we are sure that more success stories will emerge in the future!
Friends, please donate to this programme to help youth achieve their dreams!
