Dear Friends,
Media is like a “communication bridge between people and information and education.” Meraj takes this role seriously and aims to attract all types and ages of people with colorful, engaging programs. One way it does this is by having respected speakers on air. Radio Meraj is known for its excellent guest speakers who come from within Afghanistan but also from around the world. In January, the local speakers included the heads of Herat University, the Appeals Court, the Public Health Department, the Fire Department and the Justice Courts. Meraj also sees its role as to fill the gap between the government and people so the station works to promote people’s concerns and requests so government officials are aware and can address the problems.
Creativity drives the work at Meraj and staff do their best to be creative in program planning and to be innovative so as to be interesting to people. They have been pleased to find other media have copied some of their ideas. Outreach is paramount to station operations and now Meraj has been uploading its programs to the Meraj website so listeners from all over the world can hear the station.
The impact of Radio Meraj is revealed in stories from listeners. Here is one recent example,"In here that we are prisoned, many of the prisoners fight with each other. I was one of the aggressive and combative people. Your programs were always concerned with the good effects of patience and calmness, emphasizing that people adopt them in their behavior. Since that day I have tried hard and adopted this attitude. It is now about one month since I fought anyone, I haven't even talked harshly. Living at prison has now become better. Although it isn't a good place, but I can cope with it easily. I thank Meraj Radio and its authorities."
Thank you for your continued interest.
