Radio Meraj continues to gain in both popular and professional standing. Most recently Meraj received an invitation for its director of publications to participate in the week-long Conference of South Asian Countries in Nepal. Only 3 journalists from Afghanistan were invited. The director was able to play a role in bilateral talks with the authorities and gave a speech about Meraj and its activities. He was part one of the strongest and most active teams participating being that from Afghanistan out of the group that included China, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
A story from listener Ehsan, illustrates Meraj’s community action, "The local clinic in our neighborhood used to charge too much cost for its services, especially for special checkups. Any sick person with a routine problem had to do some unnecessary checkups and pay extra money. Weeks ago, I called Meraj Radio and complained to you about this issue. You promised to cooperate and solve it. A few days later after you spoke with the relevant people. An assessment team came from the public health administration and checked all the documents at the clinic and figured out that they were working illegally and stopped their services to some extent. Thank you for spreading news and helping solve our problems."
In July, Meraj had a full roster of roundtable discussions with speakers from the country and elsewhere especially Europe. Speakers this month included: the Minister of Public Health, Herat’s Governor, Deputy Director of Herat’s Mayor, Deputy Director Herat’s Governor, rep from Herat’s Provincial Council, rep from Labor Union of Civil Foundation, head of Independent Election Committee and Baghdis Education Department.
Thank you for your continued support.
