This year has been challenging for everyone, and it still is. However, that did not stop us from continuing to work in the field of combating violence, human trafficking, and women's health and sexuality. We addressed these topics through education, activism, and creativity. Here is what we did from July to mid-October. Enjoy reading.

The last hearing of Marija L.
Activists of the Girls' Center stood on the streets of Nis and gave unreserved support to Marija L. at the time of the last hearing. Marija L. is a woman who sued her boss for sexual harassment. Two and a half years after the trial was initiated, a verdict was reached that the accused was guilty. He received only 3 months in prison for the crime of illicit sexual activity. This is the first time that someone in Serbia has received a verdict for that.

6th Feminist art colony
This year's 6th Feminist Art Colony was attended by 11 female artists. Due to the pandemic this year, only girls and women from Serbia participated. Also, due to the impossibility to realize the colony in Sicevo, as in the previous 5 years, this one was held in the hostel Tašana, in Niš. At this year's colony, the female artists had the opportunity to see 3 fantastic performances: "Nadezda Petrovic - a self-portrait in the plural"; "I am an emotional being", and "Vagina's monologues" by Eve Ensler.
Active again after summer
In September, after the summer and the break, we had meetings with our activists and talked about new plans.
We joined the action of friends from Zagreb from the NGO Women's Room in marking the "National Day for Combating Violence against Women". We kept 3 papers with which we took photos on the street and then posted them on our social networks.

Cross-sectoral training "Improving the response in human trafficking procedures"
Through cross-sectoral training "Improving the Response to Trafficking Procedures", 35 representatives of institutions and CSOs improved their knowledge in working on cases of trafficking in human beings through the identification of obstacles and the exchange of previous experiences. The training was realized in Vrnjacka Banja with the participation of relevant actors in the fight against human trafficking: police (Niš, Zrenjanin, Leskovac, Belgrade, Prijepolje, Pirot, Uzice, Vranje), higher prosecutor's office (Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Belgrade, Niš, Vranje ), centers for social work (Nis, Vranje, Dimitrovgrad, Prijepolje, Vlasotince, Zrenjanin) and non-governmental organizations, members of the AT network (Belgrade, Uzice, Prijepolje, Nis, Vlasotince, Vranje).

Performance "Women's Cemetery"
In Serbia, one woman is killed every 10 days. With the street performance "Women's Cemetery", we sent a message to our fellow citizens that this is a common problem and that they should not turn their heads. The performance was performed by activists of the Girls' Center. During the hour that the performance lasted, passers-by could hear 315 names and surnames of women killed in the last 10 years in domestic and partner violence. The performance was seen by over 1000 people. Audio recording: Marijana P.

Film marathon in September and October
We started a film marathon in September and October, so we watched movies with activists and had conversations after watching them. The films are chosen to touch on the topics we are dealing with and which will enable the audience to face their prejudices and better understand some things.
All activities were carried out with all precautionary measures due to the pandemic.
Stay with us.
Stay tuned.
