Summary

This project enables the education of 300 girls and 300 young people on the topic of violence against girls / women through educational workshops and forum theater in 6 schools in 3 cities in Serbia. By educating them, we will inform them about violence against girls / women and empower them to react to violence, not to suffer, increase their self-esteem and thus give them the opportunity to have a better position in society.

Challenge

Serbia is a patriarchal environment full of prejudices that tells girls that sexual violence is acceptable, and physical abuse in some cases is allowed. That's what every 5th guy is thinking. 1 out of 2 women / girls in the country suffer from some form of violence, and every 10 days 1 woman / girl is killed by a partner / male member of the family. These are disturbing facts that talk about the need to educate and empower girls so that they can resist and fight for life without violence.

Solution

The best way to stop violence against girls is to timely inform and educate girls about this topic. In a year, we will do it 20 workshops of 90 minutes with 300 girls. On the topic "Prevention of violence against girls" in 6 schools (Nis-3, Leskovac -2 and Prokuplje -1) with 15 participants. Execution of the 6 forum of the theater that will see 300 young people in 3 cities in Serbia (50 persons x 6 schools). During these activities we will share information pamphlets on violence.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate 300 girls who will know how to recognize and respond to violence, as well as 300 young people who will be introduced with this topic and its harmful consequences through the forum theater. Educated girls and people who have seen the performance will share their acquired knowledge with others, and in this way, we will influence in the long term on them but also on the whole community and provide a healthier environment and a society without violence in 3 cities in Serbia.
