The funds we received enabled us to send 600 children back to school. Thank you!
We purchased and distributed the scholastic material to the children registered across the project areas, while the uniforms were being sewn and were given out at Nambogo, Tororo, Amonikakinei, Busia and Bugiri.
These children are happy and excited to be in school and without our help they simply could not attend.
Needs
Hundreds of children show up hoping for supplies and support each time we distribute supplies and uniforms. These kids are usually orphans or other vulnerable children. It is important to keep them in school for as long as possible, especially the girls. One extra year of secondary school increases a girl's future wages by up to 25%!
We are so grateful that the children have gone back to school in time with all what they needed for their schooling. But we have to do it again and again. Education can and does change lives!
Finally, education is not enough in and of itself. These kids’ families need income generating training / activities. They need training in hygiene and sanitation.
Child headed households need to be trained in the many skills it takes to raise a family from home repair to animal husbandry and cooking and cleaning.
Thank you to our donors and friends for your help.
