Meet two inspiring young digital makers

Dear Friend,

We are continually amazed by the young people in our community that are bringing new ideas and change to the world. We wanted to share with you the stories of two of the inspiring community members we get the opportunity to work with every day.

Inspired by the love for her family dog, Selin, a digital maker from Istanbul, became interested in robotics and created a robotic dog that could respond to voice commands for those with limited vision. With the support of her local CoderDojo, she continued to expand her coding knowledge and discovered Coolest Projects. Selin’s interest in creating tech projects continued to grow after her project, IC4U, became a judges’ favourite in the Hardware Category. Since then she has built seven robots, and her enthusiasm shows no sign of stopping. Watch Selin’s video to hear how she thinks AI can make the world a better place.

Adarsh, a digital maker from California, is inspired to develop technology that has the chance to help people. We first met Adarsh when he entered his Smart Sprinkler System into Coolest Projects USA. He was inspired to create this project by the need he saw in California to manage water during a drought. Using a Raspberry Pi computer, he built a moisture sensor–based sprinkler system that integrates real-time weather forecast data and Twitter feeds to dispense only optimum amounts of water, in compliance with city water regulations. Adarsh enjoys working on projects that bring something positive to the world and being part of a community of coders who work together to solve problems. Watch Adarsh’s videoto see where he gets inspiration for his projects as he continues to make things that matter to him.

Thank you for helping create inspiring spaces for young people to learn how they can use technology to solve problems they see in the world around them.

We appreciate your continued support of the CoderDojo community!

With gratitude,

Jana
