This quarter Director Ruth Konchallah had an opportunity to do a live radio interview on a station which reaches the people of the Transmara region (see photo). She discussed a wide range of subjects, including FGM, early marriage, teen pregnancy, and the proper role of traditions and culture in the society. She particularly focused on the importance of education for young people. She pointed out that education and remaining in school is crucial to empower young people.
Cherish Others Organization Kenya also donated books to schools in Transmara. The radio interview provided an important platform to showcase these activities and to explain the role which Cherish Others is playing to assist the community.
In addition, we continued to carry out discussion sessions with members and elders of the community to encourage them to support the education of their children, and to avoid pernicious practices such as FGM and early marriage.
