Quarterly Progress Report November 2018 to January 2019

Thanks to all our donors who supported and encouraged us to continue Care and School Education of Street Children Project in Pune city. Foundation has conducted following activities from November 2018 to January 2019 for these children :

November 2018

12^th November – Sweet distributed to children in all locations for Diwali festival .

17^th November – Lions Clubs organized get together of children to celebrate Diwali festival. 70 street children participated and performed group dance.

18^th & 25^th November – Health check up of 450 children from Hadapsar area was done. General health check up and Hb check up was done.

December 2018

2^nd December – 200 children were given school bags, blankets, sweaters, hygiene etc. in a function arranged at foundation’s Destitute Rehabilitation Centre, Bhilarewadi, Katraj, Pune.

Personnel from UBS visited foundation’s Destitute Rehabilitation Centre and given guidance to 50 street children in a function.

10^th December – Health check up of 200 children from Phulenagar area was arranged and later they were given blankets.

13^th December – Employees of Hasbro company visited Destitute Rehabilitation Centre and arranged programme for street children in which they arranged various games and prepared Pav Bhaji for the children.

January 2019

3^rd January – 200 children from Hadapsar children were given blankets and hygiene material.

6^th January – 600 children from 5 areas were given blankets and hygiene material.

8^th November – 60 children from Range Hills, Khadki were given shoes.

19^th January – 15 children were encouraged to take part in Interschool Sports Competition arranged by Cantonment Board of Khadki. They were given training for this. 12 children received either 1^st or 2^nd medals.

23^rd January – Distribution of various materials to 100 children from Hignemala, Hadapsar by Mr. Rohit Pawar.

26^th January – Children from all the locations were given information about Republic Day and India’s National Flag was hoisted.

Celebrating Independence Day

August 2018

15^th August – Independence Day was celebrated. Students were informed about Independence Day, Struggle for independence and it’s importance.

19^th August – Health Check Up camp was conducted for a batch of 200 students.

26^th August – Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at various locations. Children were taught to make rakhis.

September 2018

3^rd September – Dahi handi festival was celebrated with children. Dahi Handi was broken by the children with all the fervor. A earthen pot containing curd is tied up to a rope at various heights and it’s hangs there to be broken. Participants make a human ladder standing on shoulder of others and thus reach the earthen pot and break it. The winning team gets the price attached along with this pot.

15^th September – Rotary Club had arranged eye check up, dental check up camp for 200 children. Group dance was arranged at the venue and children were taken to see decoration of Vaishno Devi.

17^th September – On the occasion of Ganesh Festival which is one of the major festivals of state of Maharashtra and lasts for 10 days, children were taught to make clay idols of Lord Ganesha.

October 2018

14^th October – Health Camp was arranged for 200 children at Dapodi, Pune in which along General Check UP Haemoglobin Check Up was also done.

30^th October – Spectacles were given to those children who had undergone eye checkp and were advised spectacles.

Quarterly Progress Report May 2018 to Jul 2018

April / Mid April, May are the months of summer holidays for school children. Results are declared by April end or early May. Schools re-open in mid June. New school admissions are given in April / May & June.

1^st May 31^st May 2018

To keep the sponsored children engaged and for their further development and to keep their interest alive in school education we arranged month long summer camp in this period for 1200 street children. Our sports teacher arranged various indoor and outdoor sports activities, physical training. These children were taught to make paper flowers, dance, to make various articles from discarded material. They were taught about cleanliness and hygiene. To imbibe good manners and culture, special classes were arranged.

1^st May – Indian Medical Council had arranged health check up camp for 200 street children wherein their general health check up, hemoglobin check up etc was done and the medicines were provided to the needy children.

12^th May – 60 street children from Phulenagar location from Vishrantwadi area were taken to Rajiv Gandhi Zoo and were given information about the animals they saw in the zoo.

29^th May – 70 street children from Khadki area of pune were taken on visit to Science park.

This summer camp was very useful for the children as they learnt many skills, their communication skills and observation skills improved.

1^st to 30^th June 2018

1^st to 15 June – List of newly sponsored children for school admission was prepared and their parents were inquired about certificates needed for school admission.

Applied for their Birth certificates, Aadhar card (Unique Identification Card issued by Govt. of India) and passport size photos were taken.

Children were admitted in various schools.

Transport was arranged for children whose school was at long distance.

School material was distributed.

3^rd June – Indian Medical Council (IMA) had arranged general health check up for further 200 street children. World Environment Day was celebrated involving these children where they did tree plantation. Children from Phulenagar performed musical dance and children from Khadki presented drama.

July 2018

Newly admitted children were counseled to regularly attend the school and are accompanied to the schools.

Arranged extra coaching wherein they are taught counting, recognizing alphabets, basic reading, writing and mathematical skills. This is very essential as most of these children had never attended the school and they are enrolled in various classes according to their age.

28^th July – Reputed Marathi newspaper Lokmat and arranged magic show for these children.
