Progress Report - December, 2012

The fall season has been a busy one for the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club and the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough who started their Game Tech programs back up after the summer break.  Both the new and returning participants of the program are well on their way to creating their very own computer games.

In October, 2012, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada was pleased to announce the two new Clubs that will host the Game Tech program in 2013, in addition to Toronto Kiwanis and East Scarborough.  With the generous financial support of AMD and the AMD Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Whitehorse (YT) and Local des Jeunes des Jardins Fleuris (Sherbrook, QC) will introduce the program starting in January.

The Whitehorse Club is excited for this program as it will give their children and youth a fun, new learning opportunity, especially during the cold winter months.  Getting children and youth engaged during the winter can
be a challenge in the Yukon, but with this program, the Club is confident they will see a large number of children and youth participate, especially as programming like this is hard to find in the Yukon Territory.

Local des Jeunes des Jardins Fleuris is also thrilled to be offering this program.  Not only are they looking forward to introducing their children and youth to computer game programing and design, but are also excited to promote it as a career path as Quebec is home to at least two post-secondary institutes that specialize in this field.

Thank you to our dedicated Global Giving donors who continue to support this initiative.  Children and youth are
greatly benefiting from these new and highly sought after skills that Game Tech provides.

We wish all of you a wonderful and safe holiday!  We look forward to re-connecting in the New Year.
