The GameTech program has been a terrific success during its
second year!
The Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club and the Boys and
Girls Club of East Scarborough have both continued running the program on a
weekly basis in 2012. The Clubs will
close the program for the summer months to focus on their camp programs, and
will start back up in the fall.
Both Clubs have reported that their participants have really
enjoyed the program and have learned skills (such as computer programming and
game design) that have not been provided in their schools. The Toronto Kiwanis Club has just completed a
video showcasing the work their participants have done over the last
five-months. The East Scarborough Club’s
program has been so successful that in the fall they plan to offer GameTech at
several of their satellite locations.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is very pleased to report
that AMD and the AMD Foundation have provided additional funding for GameTech
which will allow two new Clubs to run the program this coming fall.
The funding provided by AMD and our GlobalGiving donors has
allowed this innovate program to thrive.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We look forward to providing our next update
in the early fall.
