As we look back on 2021, we have a lot to celebrate. It hasn’t been an easy year for any of us, or for our Clubs. On-going labour shortages, changes in COVID protocols, elections, handling controversy over vaccines, managing new programs and data requests. We’ve done it all. And we threw in a major change too, as we became BGC Canada.
It’s this new banner, this new brand that makes all the difference. Being BGC Canada is a significant commitment to our values – it’s about ensuring we represent those we serve. That everyone is welcome through Club doors.
It also showed that we were focused on business – that we needed to show progress, not just tread water in a crisis, but be committed to what we believe.
This year will come many changes, and many improvements, and your continued support is so important. In 2022 we have an ambitious plan for growth and renewal.
BGC Canada and our Clubs across the country have been busy assisting Canadian youth and families with a safe return to school.
As we head into the colder months, and with COVID-19 restrictions, and lockdowns still impacting communities across the country, our services are in higher demand than ever.
Our Clubs continue to see a large increase in demand for community services, while 42% of all Canadian charities say that they are facing demands that exceed their capacity to deliver.
Your support has helped thousands of Canadian children, youth, and families through one of the hardest periods of their lives.
There are many important issues BGC canada is working daily to confront including equity diversity and inclusion, youth mental wellness, access to affordable childcare, and equitable pandemic recovery for communities and the non-profit sector.
Your support continues to make a significant impact on the lives of Canadian youth.
As Canada's largest youth serving organization, we are moving forward with important work.
Most recently, we have completed a rebrand Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada has become BGC Canada. Not to be trendy. Not because it’s shorter or catchier. But because Clubs across the country open their doors to all kids and teens and we believe our name should reflect that.
Removing gender from our name modernizes the BGC brand and echoes the inclusive practices we’re known for without straying too far from our history and national brand awareness. It also embraces the fact that we serve young people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities.
New name, same legacy: 120+ years of creating opportunities for millions of Canadian kids and teens.
With the summer months upon us, and continued progression in the fight against COVID-19, our focus continues to be on be on supporting Canadian children, youth, and families across the country.
Thank you for your continued support and for making a difference in the lives of the over 200,000 young people we serve.
