Every child has the right to grow up in a protected environment, with access to education, healthcare, family and community life, freedom, respect, and dignity. However, the reality in Brazil still presents significant challenges: more than 30,000 children and adolescents are currently living in alternative care services after experiencing violations of their rights, often due to fragile family and social bonds.
In this context, Aldeias Infantis SOS continues to strengthen its advocacy efforts, promoting the protection and fulfillment of children’s rights while implementing concrete, community-based solutions that support families.
Since 2020, this integrated approach—combining advocacy and direct intervention—has reached approximately 1,400 families and supported around 1,700 children and adolescents. As a result, nearly 1,100 children were able to remain with their families, avoiding separation. Through the SOS Family Strengthening Programs, the organization works to reinforce family bonds, promote access to rights, and coordinate with the social protection system, including public services such as CRAS and CREAS.
One example of this work is the SOS Family Strengthening Program in Caicó (RN), which since 2024 has been supporting 25 families, directly benefiting around 125 individuals, including 65 children and adolescents, and indirectly impacting approximately 100 additional community members.
The program’s approach is centered on strengthening family relationships, expanding access to information, and creating safe spaces for dialogue and collective learning. Through group sessions, socio-educational guidance, individualized support, and coordination with local service networks, the program promotes protection, autonomy, and well-being for families.
We sincerely thank you for your support, which makes it possible to continue and expand this work. With your contribution, we are able to reach more families and collaborate so that every child can grow up in a safe, caring environment within their family. Together, we continue working to ensure that no child grows up alone.
