AIL was founded on a holistic approach to problems and always combined education with health care, understanding that only healthy people can learn and improve their lives. Improving the level of health education in communities is  key to the development of society as a whole. AIL provides health education at its clinics, Learning Centers, offices, schools and in workshops, mini workshops and in teacher training sessions.  Children learn health matters during separate sessions in school or class but health is also incorporated into other classes such as literacy, math, leadership.

Halima attended a health workshop and also learns about health in the literacy class she attends at a  center. She says: "I have been married for several years, and I have made my children get married too. I realized that I was wrong, all this time. On the other hand, I am happy that I have gained useful awareness on health care. I hope to be able to guide my daughters and daughter-in-laws correctly. One of my problems was that when one of them referred their sickness to me, unknowingly, I had told them there is nothing to concern themselves about. I had never understood their problems, and I had believed that only I was right, but this workshop changed me in a positive way.”

In 2017, AIL provided health education lessons to 174,466 people through its targeted program of clinic lessons, and workshops but the number of people reached is higher as this does not include the other venues, such as schools, where health is taught.  In addition, AIL publishes articles about health in its magazine.  Health information is spread by those who learn it to family and friend. The boys in the photo are teaching their classmates about the benefits of drinking milk. Everyone takes this information home with them so more people learn about milk, calcium and strong bones. The children teach their mothers, fathers and siblings.

Thank you for your support.

AIL is working towards:

SDG Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.

SDG Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
