Extra! Extra! This project qualifies for both TODAY'S proportional match and a 50% ADDITIONAL MATCH from the Safer World Fund at GG!! It's a Win-Win!
AIL has 4 fixed clinics, 2 at an orphanage and 1 at a street children facility. In addition, AIL conducts medical clinics at four of its Learning Centers. Health education is as important as the health treatment provided by these clinics.
Patients all receive health messages while they wait for the doctor. Topics are not always related to their medical issue. The health information is then disseminated by the patients to family and friends thus increasing the reach of the program. Only through education can the cycles of ill health, disease and malnutrition that plague so many families be ended. Education is the vital link to establishing a healthy population.
Health education topics vary each month and can include: breast feeding, nutrition, child spacing, worms, flu, TB, sanitation, personal hygiene, diarrhea, ARI and other topics.
Here is a story from an educator:
"I am a vaccinator from an AIL clinic. Two days ago I went to the Robat Naw village. Which is a new-made village and all residents are refugees. I wanted to ask if anyone knows anything about vaccination. I first went to ask the mullah from the mosque, but he did not have any information about vaccination. I asked him to gather all residents so I could explain the important role of vaccination in the lives of every individual. After I finished my explanation, all the residents decided to refer their children to the clinic for vaccination. They also thanked me for teaching them about vaccination."
Thank you for your support.
