AIL has 4 fixed clinics, 3 clinics at Learning Centers, 2 at an orphanage and 1 at a street children facility. Here is an example of one month of activity at the clinics: in July, AIL treated 22,260 patients and provided health education to 17,738. Some of the most popular health education topics this month included: worms, vaccinations, drugs, respiratory problems and nutrition. There were 28 babies delivered at clinics in the month, all were healthy except one had low birth weight. 5,733 patients were vaccinated this month. AIL monitors the health of children in the clinic areas by completing thorough health screenings and nutritional assessments – in July 3,172 children were assessed for nutritional status and 235 were deemed malnourished and 147 were in the Intensive Nutrition Program.
"My name is Niloofar and I have a daughter who was born in AIL’s Jaghartan clinic. I had two failed deliveries before this one because I had never come to a clinic or visited a doctor. This time I had a healthy pregnancy and normal delivery because I came to clinic every month and followed the doctor’s instructions. She prescribed me some tablets to take during my pregnancy. She also gave me a list of dos and don'ts. I learned how have a healthy pregnancy from the beginning and about family planning. My newborn and I are healthy and safe. I wish I had come to clinic for the previous deliveries. I am thankful to Dr. Yacoobi for providing health services for the women of my village. I think thousands of lives are impacted by these clinics because women are illiterate and need this kind of help and these services."
