Dear Friends and supporters

We are sending our humble gratitude to you all for your kind continuous help to for the last 7 years to this project to care and educate slum children in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India

I am extremely happy to share one the successful life story of a girl from our school centre at Swarnabharathinagar, Guntur.

The story of Yamuna

My name is Yamuna, age 13 years studying 5th class in BASS Primary school at Swarnabharathinagar, Guntur.  I am born in 2005 at Hindupur village of Karnataka state.  In 2007 my father Mr. Raghavendra rao and my mother Mrs Gangamma with myself were migrated from Karnataka state to Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in search of employment and living in an occupied hut at Swaranabharathi nagar, Guntur. And my parents are attending into daily wage works in Guntur city and started income to care my family. In 2007 my mother gave birth to two twin boys’ names as Ramaiah and Lakshmaiah.  Both boys are healthy and fine. The needs of my family increased so my mother takes me to the works to add extra income to my family. Unfortunately I am not attended any school until 2013 as my age is 8 years old.

At this situation Mrs Silaja Teacher and other staff from BASS primary school finds me while working and motivated my parents and brings me to the school in June 2013. Thus my life turns from child labor to a successful school student. Now I am going to complete my primary education studies 5th class after April 2019 and promotes to high school. I am also very happy to share you that my twin brothers Ramaiah and Lakshamaiah are also admitted to this school from 2014. Now my brothers Ramaiah studying 4th class and Lakshmaiah studying 3rd classes in our loving BASS Primary schools centre.

Later my parents also improved their earnings by doing alternative jobs by collecting waste materials include paper, plastic and iron and reselling to get continues income even on daily wage works not available days.

This is my pleasure to thanks to all the supporters for our school through Global Giving. Like me more than 150 children getting care and education through this project. I myself and my twin brothers along with more than 150 children are so lucky to get care and education through this project. I request you all please continue your help to complete our education as well as to facilitate many other children in our slums. Once again thanks to all the teachers, staff and all the members of BASS for their love and compassion to educate infortunate children in the slums

This is one of the child stories from our school; like that many children had the successful stories with all your help.

Our slum community health centre is running well to facilitate first aid and timely treatment to the needy patients in the area.

In this quarter we received $622 from 1st August to 31st October 2018 from all your donations to this project. We are used for the grant to facilitate mid day meal to the children for September, October and November months.

I request you please kindly make a new donation either monthly recurring or one time donation during 2018 Yearend campaign to get bonus prizes. Please also make a donation to our new micro project to get lights in classrooms.

Dear Friends

Greetings from BASS, India

A brief story about our Teacher Sailaja, BASS- Primary school at Swarnabharathinagar, Guntur

I am Sailaja, A Teacher from one of the project school operated by BASS with limited support by GlobalGiving at Swarnabharathi Nagar, Guntur. I am resident of this major slum in Guntur city and appointed as Teacher to BASS primary education program started from 7th July 2009. I am working since the inception of this school from 2009; most of the children are out of schools and identifying as child labor, at that situation our organization BASS has started a special school cum skills training Centre for the unfortunate identified children. Every year we are promoting and mainstreaming 10 children to farther high schools and admit new 10 to 15 children to the school so that every year we continuously facilitate care and education and skills training to 50 children in the slum.

I am the head teacher and one assistant teacher, a Vocational skills teacher and one helper cum clerk and a cook are working in this school.  All our staff members are selected from the same slum because to get good linkages and rapport with the families and communities to control child labor in the slums.  So far more than 120 children were succeeded to complete the primary education in our school and promoted to high schools and further education.   We just not leave out the children once they completed primary education in our school but also continuously look after the children to continue their further education by regular family checkups.  We are very happy and proud to be teacher to educate children in the slums.

This is also my pleasure to inform you that the academic year 2017-18 is successfully completed and already the new academic year 2018-19 is started from 4th June 2018. At present 50 children admitted in our school and 12 children were promoted to high school. We are continuously providing quality nutritive food, education material and school uniforms to the children. And also apart from primary education we are also providing skills trainings in dress making, tailoring and candle and other handy crafts making.

I am also very happy to inform you that Mr. Pratip, Representative from GlobalGiving has been  visited our school on 23rd May 2018 and appreciated and gave his valuable suggestions for improvements.

Like this our organization BASS is also operating  three schools in 3 slums in Guntur include this slum Swarnabharathinagar, Ramaraju Nagar and CPI colony slums in Guntur. All these three areas are also same situations and we are successfully implementing the program.    Total more than 150 children are benefitting through this project form three locations.

We get only $320 grant in this quarter, and we utilized for the feeding expenses in the months of March and April .

Thank you very much for all the supporters. We are sending our gratitude to all our donors and special   Thanks to Mr. Erwin Franzen, Mr. Alf and Mr. Tillman Brandl for their continuous support and love to our children.

We humbly requesting you all, please kindly make a new donation to the children in this new academic year 2018-19 and needs are very huge and the sources are limited. We needed to buy new educational material, uniforms, nutritive lunch- we are entirely depending upon your generous support.  Please consider making new donation and kindly refer this project to all your friends and social media groups to get help.

Once again thank you so much for your help
