Improve Livelihoods of 225 HIV-Affected Families
By Lucy Mathenge | Project Assistant
Our beneficiaries are fairing on well, their –progress is quite impressing and we are happy for every support channeled to them especially during these difficult moments as a result of covid 19 pandemic. Our encouragement to the HIV victims has played a big role ensuring they are all safe and observing protective measures as guided by the ministry of health. Many HIV positive patients feared going to the health facilities for their daily drugs and check ups when required. We have been checking on our beneficiaries and we ensured they had their daily drugs as we encouraged them to go for them in their usual health facilities. We are happy that they have been food secure during the pandemic although there have been many hardship facing many people and worse for the vulnerable groups. There have been plenty food in this region and our beneficiaries were busy in their farms. There have been plenty of rains this year hence making them busy working in their farms. Our beneficiaries have confidence with their activities and they have been good examples to many people. They work had in their farms as well as in their businesses for those into business. With this project they have become who they are and they have been sharing their success with others with similar conditions. On their behalf we appreciate all those who have made their status positive and successful and we request for further support to ensure they progress even further. Thank you very much for your contributions.

Improve Livelihoods of 225 HIV-Affected Families

Our beneficiaries are progressing on well despite the corova virus cases in the country. Initially when the first case was reported in Kenya in March, our beneficiaries who are HIV positive were very stressed and worried. Of course we were all were but due to their health status they were more scared and considered themselves helpless, they called us often for advice and guidance and we encouraged them to stay home, avoid socializing, washing hands regularly, eating healthy and observing general hygiene. In some parts of the country the victims feared even to go to the health centres for their drugs an initial which was very concerning and later they were assured safety in health centres and they were encouraged to continue with medication. We did not receive such case from our beneficiaries but we have continued to encourage them to go for the drugs once they finish. They are happy they have a lot of farm produce in their gardens thus ensuring that they are food secure. They are also selling the surplus for income generation during these difficult moments in the country. Most citizens in the country are food insecure as a result of the pandemic as they don’t have any income. We appreciate the effort of our beneficiaries s they have been working hard in their farms and the weather has really favoured them since the beginning of the year. It has been raining and they have taken advantage of the on going rains. They ready farm produce in their gardens and they are also planting more. We are proud of this project and our beneficiaries too as they have owned the project to improve their living standards as well as their status. We thank you all for your generosity and your continued support and together we have great achievements

The success of this project has been realized through support and donations by our GlobalGiving friends locally and internationally, well-wishers and other partners something that we value and proud of. We appreciate all of you for your kind contributions towards this project. Our beneficiaries are humbled by your generosity and they wish you all the best in everything that you do as they wish you more success in this New Year. We are not left behind in extending our appreciation to all of you we value all the support channelled to us so as we can extend the same to the less privileged in our society. As the year starts, we plan to continue the journey with our beneficiaries and we are committed in assisting them whenever possible. The year have started quite well with rains in many parts of the country a great change from previous years where January is referred to us the most dry and hottest month with very little in the farms. Farmers have crops in the farms and they are planting more taking advantage of the current rains, our beneficiaries have informed us that they are doing fine and they managed to do seed savings after the trainings and they now have plenty of planting seeds and other planting materials. They have also updated us on livestock rearing and they are very happy they are not struggling for pastures, feeding materials and water compared to previous year where January and February they struggle a lot for pastures and water for their livestock. They are optimistic that the weather will be favourable in a way that their crops that are in the farms and the one they are planting will do well and they will have good yields. This way they are sure they will be food and nutrition secure. They are also happy for the value addition trainings we have conducted as they are now into value addition especially when there is surplus produce and demand is low. Thank you to all who have contributed in making this project successful l; let’s continue the journey together for more achievements.
