Improve Livelihoods of 225 HIV-Affected Families

The year has not been easy as we hoped for and cost of living has been very high even in this year.  The pandemic has been a nightmare to the whole world.  We are happy our beneficiaries safe and healthy despite all that and we keep encouraging them day in day out.  Their efforts has not been in vain and despite being vulnerable groups they have been very positive and taking suitable precautions to be even safer.  We appreciate our efforts in building their capacity and the support we channel to them as they have been good examples to many. 

They are busy in their farms at the moment planting and taking care of their crops.  Although the rains came late they remained positive after preparing their farms in readiness for planting and there was no time to waste when rains finally came. Their kitchen gardens are looking nice with variety of vegetables and they are optimistic all will be good.  Our idea of fundraising for water harvesting was not actualized and since has taken extremely long, we encourage our beneficiaries to harvest the rain water in any way possible.  They have been reporting to us that they are trying all what they could to ensure they harvest some water during this rainy season.  As a group they are also knocking doors to other service providers, donors and well-wishers to support them in this and other initiatives and we wish them all the best.  We will be more than happy to see them progress, move from one point to another.  We have not given up on fundraising on their behalf but due many challenges, we encourage them also to work hard for other support.  Their achievement is our achievement and to this far we appreciate the support channeled to us your generous support has played a great role in improving living standards of others and making commendable changes.  Thank you so much

As we start the year 2021, we pray and believe that the year will be successful, full of opportunities and good progress in all sectors. We also pray and wish our donors, well-wishers and friend a fruitful year with more success. Our direct beneficiaries in this project are progressing well and as everybody else it’s their hope that all will be well in this year in the whole world. They are in the process of preparing their farms in readiness for planting during the long rain season expected from mid-March. We are proud of them as they have been working very hard and they practice what they learn in seeds and planting materials preservation. As the rain was plenty last year, they were busy in their farms throughout the year and most of them preserved seeds for planting. We will be organizing more trainings in the course of the year and we always encourage them to visit ministry of Agriculture in their areas for consultation and technical back-stoppings. Since they are well trained and capacitated, they are confident when engaging and socializing with other people and even staff and officials from different departments. Water harvesting challenge is one of the activities that we want to prioritize this year and we will be fundraising for the activity. We had this initiative in the previous years but we had challenges in raising funds to cater for the need. Most households in many regions have no access to running water and it is even worse during the dry spell. By taking advantage of the rains during the rainy seasons we believe that households will have water for domestic use and irrigating their small kitchen gardens especially where they have vegetables as our beneficiaries highly require them for their nutrition needs. To realize the initiative of water harvesting, we welcome our friends, well-wishers, donors and friends to contribute to our project for us to install water harvesting structures in the households of our beneficiaries. We also intend to have ground water collections where we intend to establish simple water pans in various farms mainly for irrigation and for the livestock.
