A powerful earthquake in Afghanistan killed more than 1,000 people and wounded and displaced hundreds more on June 22, 2022. Your donation to the Afghanistan Earthquake Relief Fund will provide emergency assistance to people in need and support long-term recovery efforts led by local organizations.
The 5.9M earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border, causing widespread damage. It was the deadliest quake to hit the region in two decades. Survivors described buried villages in hard-to-reach mountainous terrain. The disaster adds to already acute hardship in Afghanistan, a country in the grip of a worsening humanitarian and economic crisis after the Taliban's traumatic takeover in 2021.
All donations to this fund will support earthquake relief and recovery efforts in Afghanistan, sending food, clean water, medicine, and other essential supplies to people in need. Once immediate needs are met, the fund will transition to support long-term recovery efforts led by local organizations in Afghanistan.
