Due to the period from january to march of 2020 coincided with Lunar New Year, Moreover, the worldwide outbreak of Covid-19 including Vietnam, the government prohibited crowd gathering and students must be absent from school. For those reasons, we have to delay temporarily all of the activities of project.

However, in this time, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) and DynaGen Initiatives called for the proposals of “Initiavies for Community” with an aim to find out pioneering initiatives, brilliant ideas and creative projects. Such proposals will help to promoting the role and contribution of young generations to participation in community development activities and solve social problems.

After a time of calling, there were a number of proposals brought forward by students. However, only two of them were most excellent to be chosen and sponsored. Those are:

  1. “Happiness Is Valuable” Initiative

“Happiness Is Valuable” Initiative was to bring a warm, loving and sharing Tet to 70 children living with HIV/AIDS of The Drug-Detention Center 2-Hanoi. With activities, such as trays of fruit displaying competition, fashion designing competition and other activities.

Through this program, the children were much more confident and had a chance to overcome themselves. Besides, DynaGen students learnt how to share and empathize; devoted their youth meaningfully to charitable activities for the community.

  1. “Run for Love” Initiative

Based on Strava application, “Run for Love” was an online charitable running program which was completely free for all students from nationwide universities. The project contributed 5000VN to each of kilometer run by the participants to support the elderly and the children at Social Protection Center 3-Hanoi. Furthermore, through this program, the organizer also wanted to promote the physical movement and improve community health.

Within only three days of launching, the program had mobilized 394 athletes participate in the running, with 3,680.04 kilometers running, and the amount of money exchanged was 18,402.052VN. In addition, the participants also donated 2,650,000VN. All the amount of money from the program was to support the elderly and the children at Social Protection Center 3-Hanoi.

The two intiatives were so meaningful and humanitarian that not only did they response enthusiastically to the month of the poor, but they also raised the young’s awareness in participating in community development activities.

Prepare to start phase 4

During this reporting period, the project received a grant of $20 from an anonymous individual through GlobalGiving.

During this time, we take time to prepare for activities planned to be implemented in 2020 (phase 4), including identifying project activities, implementation sites, and partners. local and search for great potential sponsors.

Accordingly, the project activities will include:

  • Organize a training course for trade union officials and health staffs of enterprises on skills to provide information related to reproductive health, mental health and nutrition.
  • Organize 20 communications sessions for employees on reproductive health, mental health and nutrition for women of reproductive age as well as their children in the first 1,000 days of life.
  • Organize one or two mobile reproductive health check and counseling for female workers.
  • Organize a contest for employees to learn about reproductive health, mental health and nutrition.

Project activities will be implemented in Hai Phong, one of the provinces/cities with many industrial parks and a large concentration of workers in the North of Vietnam. Because the project will be implemented in Hai Phong, we have chosen Hai Phong Women's Union as the partner to carry out the activities. We had a meeting with the Hai Phong Women's Union on January 14 to discuss the detailed plans.

With the activities and project site mentioned above, the total number of people the project intends to directly access will be about 3,200 people. The estimated total budget to meet the needs of these beneficiaries is approximately $33,000.

We are actively working with donors - businesses and organizations that have been with the project since the previous years are Hoa Linh Pharmaceutical Company, TH Group, Gold Choice Company and DKT International. At present, only TH Group, Gold Choice Company and DKT International agree in principle on continuing to accompany; And Hoa Linh Pharmaceutical Company still has no answer. Therefore, we still need the cooperation of all of you who are interested in improving the health of low-income workers, especially female workers.

Dear sponsors,

From October 2019 up to now, the project has implemented 2 trips to donate milk to pediatric patients of the National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital, Tan Dynasty). We would like to share the results and photos of each trip as follows:

1. First tripOn October 12nd 2019, the pediatric patients had a morning of joy when they had the chance to drink fresh milk and make some small gifts for their beloved ones themselves.

Under the guidance of volunteers who are students from TH School, the children created many beautiful decorations for their postcard. Many vivid cards decorated with cars, butterflies, the sun, etc. were made by their little hands. The cute shapes with scribble lines were not perfect but contain full of love. They were gifts given to the children’s mothers, grandmothers or care-givers as an expression of love. In the small space of the department, these activities were considered as a way to relax, help them temporarily forget about the treatments and have fun moments.

A total of 480 glasses of fresh milk were given to 60 pediatric patients (8 glasses of milk/child).

Looking at the smiles of the children, VSF believes that this day was a day full of love and unforgettable moments.

2. Second trip: On October 26th 2019, the pediatric patients had the opportunity to talk and have fun with two foreign volunteers and two Vietnamese student volunteers, as well as receive fresh and nutritious glasses of milk.

A total of 480 glasses of fresh milk were given to 60 pediatric patients (8 glasses of milk/child).

At the end of the trip, Trang Anh – the Vietnamese student shared: “Happiness can be seen through their smile, I now know how much joy my small actions have brought to the kid patients and I want to continue to spread this joy to more people. This activity is truly meaningful and I feel my time is well spent, and I hope everyone can have the significant opportunity like me”.

In order to carry out the two above milk - donation trips, besides the money we have received from you through global giving, we have mobilized more contributions from other individual donors.

We are looking forward to receiving your interest and support with this project.

Please do not forget - for only $ 10, you will provide 30 glasses of fresh milk to children with critical illnesses
