Project updates

In the last three months, we worked hardly for developing our project in the Mindoro Island despite two strong typhoons (Tisoy and Ursula) that affected the Philippines in December.

The constructions of the pit-latrines and the water systems in the 13 sites is going fast thanks to the support of the local beneficiaries (mangyan indigenous people) coordinated by Anna Orlando, the Kito Onlus Field Project Manager.

We built the pit latrines in each schools, divided by gender, lavatories and water system with water tanks.

Some other constructions works have been done, if necessary, for improving schools buildings standards like reconstruction of the roof, new feeding area, ect.

In each site we used local building materials like bamboo and sawali. and the project was shared with the beneficiaries and the Department of Education.

We are close to the end...

Good news: we are close to the end of the project of CASA KITO in Caldarola!

The workers are doing the last operations like the toilet finish, the internal doors and the external patio.

We are looking for new funds for the furniture suitable to kids use and maybe Ikea Foundation will support our project with tables, chairs and kitchenette.

We hope that we are ready for the opening event in January.

Thanks again to our donors to allow us to give a place where the affected children by the Marche's earthquake can play and study in a safe place.

She visited all the schools in the mountains and now she is preparing the workplan considering all the steps of the project from the partecipatory process with the beneficiaries to the choise of the local material, as wood and bamboo, and the plumbers and.

She met the stakeholders as the superintendent of the Educatio Division of Oriental MIndoro and the Mayor of Puerto Galera.
