As previously reported, we have strengthened our staff with both new employees and a strong volunteer team. Due to the requirements for overseeing a 24 hour a day operation this has made a substantial difference in the quality and care that we are providing our dogs and our adoption applicants.
Recently we have had a number of goldens surrendered to us which we are pleased to report. This includes a number of senior dogs, in which we specialize.
Now that we have improved our quarantine area it has made it more efficient to accommodate both surrenders and Turkish Rescues. Recently we rescued an additional 20 golden retrievers from Turkey and processed them in our Hudson facility.
Most of these new rescues have already found their Forever Homes and have made smooth transitions into their new homes. This brings our total number of adoptions to 5,360 since our inception.
The average expense for the international rescue per dog is approximately $2,000 which includes sheltering in Turkey, transportation to the U.S., medical care and all other care and training required. Needless to say, this effort to save these beautiful dogs is well worth what it takes but your support is critical to our ongoing efforts.
We are now in out 31st year of operation and we look forward to continuing these efforts on behalf of all the needy Golden Retrievers that are searching for their Forever Homes.
