As we turn the page into 2016, Riverview and our entire organization is buzzing with activity. Our outreach throughout New England reconnected us with Animal Control Officers and Veterinary Hospitals. Our pilot program proved to be very successful as we tapped into a real need for our services outside of New England. Many homeless dogs from outside New England were admitted into our program. We were fortunate to be uniquely suited to care for these dogs, bringing them back to health so they can find their forever homes.
We were then alerted to another need for our services helping homeless Golden Retrievers from Turkey. The logistics of bringing dogs in from Turkey provided a real challenge, but shortly after looking into this, the first dogs arrived in our care. The more we worked with these dogs, the more we fell in love with them. The first few have already found their forever homes, where they are well on their way to being as spoiled as possible. We plan on continuing this program in the future as this brings us back to our core ideals, helping homeless Golden Retrievers.
All of this activity has happened in a very short period of time, creating a strain on our staff. We’ve been working at bringing in new staff, as well as working through logistical and operational updates with an eye on efficiency. Our existing staff has been putting in a lot of additional dedicated hours, and one look at the kennels and Riverview itself shows that all of their hard work is paying off. Our Executive Director has been providing key leadership as well as bringing new dogs into our system late at night and very early in the morning.
We’ve undergone many changes over the past few years, and there are more to come. As we move into 2016, we will be investigating different ways where our members, can become more involved at our home, Riverview. We'll share more about this once we work out the details. Please connect with us on Facebook and through our updated website. The last 30 years have been incredible, and we believe the best is yet to come.
