June 2016
Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue has had a very exciting few months. We have considerably strengthened our staff, both with new employees and volunteers. As you can imagine, we require around the clock supervision of our dog population and as it grows we need more experienced people to care for these beautiful animals.
On the facility side, we have done some needed construction in order to meet the state requirements for quarantining our rescues that come from Turkey. We have also completed a long-term project in order to replace and upgrade our telephone system that was desperately needed. The most exciting developments have been in the rescue and placement of Golden Retrievers, which has been our primary focus for the past 30 years.
As of June 15, 2016 we have rescued 34 Goldens from Turkey and brought them back to our facility in Hudson, MA. This requires a tremendous amount of organization, financial resources and staffing to handle this undertaking. Of the 34 we have brought over from Turkey, 29 now have their Forever Homes!
This week we are happy to report that we have just brought over an additional 20 Goldens from Turkey!
This is a very exciting time for all of us involved in this endeavor. Financially it requires upwards of $2,000 per dog to complete this process including sheltering in Turkey, paperwork required by their government, transportation to the U.S., transportation to our facility and of course medical care.
We look forward to being able to continue these efforts on behalf of all the beautiful Golden Retrievers that need help and support to find their Forever Homes.
