Dear Medicare Family,

We are proud to report that Medicare Health Foundation continues on its journey of touching lives and creating impact! This quarter, our performance has been as follows:

Total Number of Patients Served:

April - 11,781

May -  13,950

June -11,987

Total Number of Babies Born:

April -  63

May - 89

June -  74

The patients at our hospitals are truly deserving of your support, especially in these financially challenging times in Pakistan. The present situation is such that a large portion of the population is unable to get two decent meals in a day, let alone any other expense. At such a time, your help to cover their medical expenses goes a long way, for which we all are extremely grateful.

Fully Functional Nursery
Fully Functional Nursery

Dear Medicare Family,

Medicare Health Foundation has now formed an alliance with a digital content creation agency called Axis Communications, and together we are on  the mission of telling our story and bringing more beneficiaries to our hospitals. Since this partnership has started, we have made our social media more robust, addressed online queries timely and brought in patients through online promotion. This is a great accomplishment for us, as using technology to benefit people who would otherwise be unaware of our services, has the potential to go a long way in increasing the impact of our interventions.

Additionally, we have ramped up our services, to make them even better than before. Our hospital in Badami Bagh has been inaugurated after major renovation, and our pediatric nursery has become fully functional.

All our efforts are to provide medical care to the deprived, and improve health in communities which are struggling even more financially due to the highly unstable economic condition of the country.

We greatly hope to have you on board as we exert our utmost effort to reach out to the needy

Regards,

Team Medicare Health Foundation

Activities Summary:

Renovation of Medicare Hospital - Badami Bagh

Medicare Hospital - Badami Bagh had its inauguration after renovation on 15th January this year. The event was attended by our major donors, volunteers and board members, who were all greatly impressed by the new look of the facility. We have made changes and additions in order to cater to our patients in a more effective manner and also to retain the hygiene standards of the facility.

In August this year, an assessment was carried out of the facility of Medicare Hospital - Badami Bagh, through which it was determined that it greatly needed renovation. The hospital has started becoming extremely crowded, and the air circulation system had begun being ineffective. Additionally, there was a dire need to expand the waiting areas, and also to reassign location for clinics and wards. Thus, funds were allocated and work commenced for this greatly needed project. Now that the hospital is fully functional after renovation, we are evaluating the addition of new services too, so our patients may benefit.

A Healthy Start to Life, with a Healthy Mother

We were overjoyed when Asiya, our patient who had faced misfortune upon misfortune, was blessed with a baby boy.

Previously, she met with great tragedy when her first born contracted pneumonia and passed away. Grief-stricken, she was yet again put through a test when her second pregnancy resulted in still birth.

This time, Dr. Asima at Medicare Hospital took great care of Asiya during her pregnancy, and she has been blessed with a healthy baby boy.

Partnership with Digital Content Creation Agency, Axis Communications

Medicare Health Foundation has now partnered with Axis Communications, which is designing all its social media content and bringing about awareness of the work we do. Since this partnership began, we have been able to increase awareness about our organization manifold, and bring in new patients. We hope to make it a high impact partnership, in which together we can benefit the community.

 Fundraiser by Learning Alliance International

On 2nd February, the students of the school Learning Alliance International organized a charity funfair for Medicare Health Foundation.

The students worked untiringly to put up a great show, with a beautiful set-up, delicious food and some very intriguing games. All the proceeds from the event were used for the treatment of underprivileged patients at Medicare Hospitals.

Dear Medicare Family,

This quarter, Medicare Health Foundation has been focusing on creating awareness about our services among a larger audience. We conducted seminars and medical camps, networked with specialist doctors to bring in their patients, and carried out service campaigns on social media.

Additionally, our quest to improve patient experience at our hospitals keeps us motivated to carry out regular maintenance of our facilities and add new specialties. Thus, we have started renovating our hospital in Badami Bagh Lahore, so our patients an enjoy a hygienic environment, free of infections. We have also inducted new doctors at Medicare Hospital Noor Elahi Branch in specialties such as Pediatrics, Gastroenterology and Physio Therapy.

We hope to remain engaged positively in community development and good quality healthcare for the underserved

Regards,

Team Medicare Health Foundation

Activities Summary:

Hepatitis B Screening Camp and Seminar on World Hepatitis Day

We organized free Hepatitis screening camps and an awareness seminar at our hospitals in Badami Bagh and Ferozpur Road, on World Hepatitis Day i.e. 28th July 2022. We are grateful to our partners, The Health Foundation, for all their support in making these camps possible.
Close to 300 patients benefitted from this camp, through which they learned preventive measures and those who tested positive were put on track towards cure and recovery. 18 patients tested positive, after which their PCR was done to determine their viral load. Following the results of PCR, the patients were  put on medication to treat their condition.

A Healthy Start to Life, with a Healthy Mother

We were all smiles when recently a patient gave birth for the first time, after being married for 11 years. With initial issues with conception and many years of visiting infertility clinics, she had finally conceived. Thereafter, her pregnancy was declared as a high risk one, and she had been going to a private hospital for her medical management. However, at the time of her delivery, her doctor was unavailable, which made her family very nervous. Upon recommendation, she was brought to Medicare Hospital Noor Elahi Branch, where she underwent C-Section surgery and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The mother and her family were overjoyed to welcome a baby in their lives after years of waiting.

Orthopedic Success

We are delighted to share that Medicare Hospital Noor Elahi Branch has started extremely advanced Arthroscopic ACL Repair with key hole surgeries. A surgery was carried out through this method of a patient's knee, and was successfully concluded.

Among other orthopedic surgeries, a female patient, who had had tremendous arm injury during a severe bus accident, was brought to our hospital. She underwent surgery in which all her flexor tendons, including her radial artery and median nerve, were transacted. This surgery was very successful in restoring the arm function of the patient.

Dear GlobalGiving Family,

Medicare Health Foundation's main thrust in the financial year which has just begun is to revisit its strategy and make it more robust to take it to new heights. In this streak, a strategy team has taken shape, with renowned people from academia and the corporate world.

Medicare has also for the first time formally set up is Marketing and HR Departments, in order to enhance its organizational practices and increase impact. Through marketing, we will be promoting our facilities among middle income and lower income groups, who may greatly benefit from good quality care at subsidized and affordable rates.

We hope that this new fiscal year is as eventful as the last one, and we keep improving our ability to serve the underserved.

We thank each one of you for believing in us and supporting us on every step of this journey

Warm Regards,

Activities Summary:

Resumption of Dental Service at Medicare Hospitals

With the arrival of COVID, Medicare Health Foundation, in compliance with the directives of the government, temporarily halted its dental service at both the hospitals. However, now thatthe restrictions are lifted, the service has been resumed, much to the delight of our patients who greatly appreciate our high quality care at affordable prices. Both the dental clinics at Medicare Badami Bagh and Medicare - Noor Elahi Branch are now seeing a daily flow of patients, who are greatly satisfied with the quality of care

New Partnership with Eye on Ivy

Volunteerism is key to the success of a non-profit. Over the years, we have witnessed that students are among the most enthusiastic volunteers we have ever worked with. Thus, when we were approached by a student facilitation organization, Eye on Ivy, to offer internships and volunteer opportunities to students, we jumped at the prospect. Now, with a formal partnership, we have students being routed by this organization for work hours, in which they have been active in areas such as social media, crowdfunding, data entry and fundraising.

Orthopedic Success

Recently, a little boy aged 6 years came to us with a deformed limb, which made it very difficult for him to walk properly. The underprivileged parents did not think that this problem could be rectified, and thus had never sought medical advice.

However, our orthopedic surgeon, Dr Saleem, after a detailed assessment decided to go for surgery to correct the deformity. In the month of May, the surgery was carried out successfully, following which is now the period for rest and recovery. The child is now feeling much better and is undergoing physiotherapy sessions. He hope to see him soon on his feet.

A Healthy Start, with a Healthy Mother

Uzma is a cleaner at a household, and makes a meagre living. When she found out about her pregnancy, she did not have the means to consult a doctor, and thus turned to the quacks in her area. However, when her employer, who is also a donor of Medicare, learned of her pregnancy, she immediately took her to Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch, where Uzma was treated by the gynecologist Dr. Asma. Dr Asma examined Uzma and concluded that are Hb was very low, due to which she was given IV drips. Over the next few weeks, Uzma's health improved tremendously, and eventually she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

Uzma remains grateful to Medicare Health Foundation for her safe birth and wonderful experience.

Medicare wins an Award at a Rotary District Conference

At the Rotary District Conference in Lahore in the month of June 2022, Medicare Health Foundation was showcased under the Rotary aim of Mother and Child Healthcare. The impressive work of Medicare over the years was highlighted and the impact of our interventions was acknowledged in the form of an award we won in the category of Mother and Child. This is greatly encouraging for us, and we hope to taek ourselves forward with the same zeal as the one that has brought us here.

Dear GlobalGiving Donors,

The last quarter of 2021, going all the way into 2022 was dedicated to the completion of a new medical block at our Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch. This block, named Siddiqui Medical Block, has been primarily sponsored by a major donor, along with contributions from a number of our generous supporters and also through a grant from two Netherlands based organizations, Wilde Ganzen and Stichting Equator Medicare.

With this new medical block, we will further expand the scope of our services, including specialist pediatric care. Additionally, we will be able to reach out to a greater number of underprivileged people.

We thank each one of you for believing in us and supporting us on every step of this journey

Warm Regards,

Team Medicare Health Foundation (MHF)

Activities Summary:

Completion of Siddiqui Medical Block at Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch

The dream of extending Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch has finally turned into reality. The task was daunting, as the COVID pandemic was at its peak and funding seemed to be a major problem. But our resolve did not weaken and we remained steadfast in our goal of completing this project. With a few delays due to COVID lockdowns, we have finally been able to complete the building for its inauguration on 5th March, 2022.

In this new building, there will be specialist clinics, including Pediatric, Orthopedic, Hepatitis Treatment Clinic, and Vacinnation Room. It also has a pent house for housing a doctor on a 24 hours availability basis.

Medical Dispensary - Outreach Program

Medicare's outreach initiative, a mobile clinic at Sharakpur, Punjab, has now completed its first year of running. Through this project, we have been able to improve healthcare greatly in an area where poverty prevails and access to medical care is greatly limited

Orthopedic Success

A major orthopedic surgery was carried out at Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch, in the month of December. The patient, a female from the Okara district of Punjab, had spinal cord compression, which was causing acute pain  and discomfort.

Our experienced orthopedic surgeon, Dr Saleem, carried out this risky procedure with adeptness and care.
Since the surgery, the patient has recovered fast, and is now on her feet

A Healthy Start, with a Healthy Mother

There have been many instances of high risk pregnancies being referred to Medicare Hospitals towards the end of the third trimester. These are particularly difficult situations to handle, as it is a matter of saving the life of both the mother and child, without the ability to go for preemptive care.

A patient experiencing placenta previa was brought to Medicare Hospital - Badami Bagh. She had a seizure, and her critical condition drove us to save her without a second to spare. Thankfully she survived and delivered a healthy baby boy. Her family was very grateful to Medicare for giving her a new life, and her baby a healthy start.

COVID Vaccination Drive

COVID vaccination has been successfully carrying on at both Medicare Hospital - Badami Bagh and Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch. We are very pleased that our initiative of educating all those visiting our hospitals about the importance of getting vaccinated is convincing them to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
