Good day,

It’s that time, isn’t it? It is time to ponder various moments in the past year. So, that’s what I was doing with coffee in hand, watching the snow fall in Central Oregon, I thought “I should make a timeline for the rescue.”

A tablet and a pen in hand (so old school), I went back to Wigglin' Home Boxer Rescue's infancy, FIVE MONTHS AGO!

  • Word gets out. DeAnn King, a long-time Boxer rescue volunteer, is making a dream come true. She is starting her own rescue.
  • Volunteers begin to step in behind her to be a part of that dream coming true. In true form, DeAnn wants us beside her, not behind her.
  • board is chosen as well as a name and a logo.
  • Bylaws set into place
  • Applied for non-profit 501c3 status
  • Social media platforms and website developed. FacebookInstagram
  • Shirts printed for events
  • Applications and business forms developed
  • Volunteer teams put together with great focus on human capital (everyone working where they are happiest and strongest)
  • Hung out our shingle July 29. We have ARRIVED!
  • Our first order of banners, pamphlets and business cards
  • Attended multiple events in Portland, Chinook, Astoria, Spokane, Eugene
  • Contacting veterinarians, rescues and shelters introducing ourselves
  • DeAnn, our President, is asked to speak at the Pet Expo regarding rescue and adoption
  • Partnered with Must Luv Boxer Rescue and West Coast Boxer Rescue- power in numbers
  • Applied and accepted to Global Giving
  • Accepted by Amazon Smile
  • Many get togethers to visit, share ideas and meet one another
  • Two massive garage sales to raise funds- a LOT of work!
  • MODA concession stand- Portland’s indoor sports center. They offer nonprofits the opportunity to work concession stands and a percentage of the proceeds go to our medical fund. This is a great way for our volunteers to spend time together and raise funds at the same time. Watch our Facebook page for our concession number. We could be there for Disney on Ice, Blazer games, concerts, etc.
  • As of this writing we have:
  • 84 volunteers
  • Collectively, 189 +/- years of rescue experience
  • Rescued 52 dogs
  • 27 adoptions
  • 3 adoptions in process
  • 21 dogs in rescue
  • Four pups cross the bridge with love and care
  • 1,272 followers on Facebook
  • 300 followers on Instagram

And you, our donors. Your numbers are growing each day. Without you we couldn’t go on. It would just not be possible.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something but this remains an impressive list for five months. Imagine what we will do with a full year! We are looking ahead, plans are in the works, further benchmarks have been set. We look forward to growing our volunteer base, rescuing more dogs, filling more homes with love, standing up against animal abuse, and being a positive force in our communities. We can do all of this and more with your continued help.

And finally, we will have EXCITING news to share with you as we get into the new year.

On that note, I think I’ll go make a snowman.

From all of us at Wigglin’ Home Boxer Rescue, to you, we wish you a Happy New Year.
