Happy Holidays everyone,
****NOTICE**** Not all reports will be this long! Stick with us on this one.
This is our first report since stepping into the spotlight on Global Giving. Much has happened in these few months. Some of you have followed Wigglin’ Home Boxer Rescue (WHBR) and some of you are new to our family. To all, we thank you for your generosity and friendship.
In reports, such as this, you can expect updates on dogs currently in our care, pups coming in, and pups going out to their forever homes. We want you to be aware of our medical needs and, most importantly, to see we are using your trusted donations properly. You will see us post often regarding proper use of donations as well as our understanding of laws concerning non-profits and fundraising. We want to assure you that your hard-earned money is going where you heart wants it to go.
Now, an update on Earl.
When joining Global Giving, we had to provide a plethora of information. Then, sthere was a lot of checking on Global Giving’s part to ensure we are who we claim, a bonafide non-profit. After providing the required information, we also had to provide our first campaign write up. When everything checked out and we were given the a-okay, our campaign went live. We decided Earl’s Bank would be our first campaign to help get our cause out in front of you and raise donations boosting our medical coffers for neglected Boxers.
At that time, Earl was in the care of one of our long time foster parents. Earl had more beds than a pup could want, a foster brother and sister, and loving foster parents watching his every need. Another member was sewing that boy more coats than a pup could ever imagine having. Earl was slowwwwly gaining weight, and his pressure sores were starting to heal as he took in each new morning of his safe life with food and love. Earl had gone from a horrific life of abuse and containment, to running scared, to a loud scary shelter and then, thankfully, to our loving arms. His life turned to walks on the beach, a yard to play and lay in, and warm beds at every turn. Alas, mere days before our GlobalGiving campaign was to unveil, a mass and open sore appeared on Earl’s head. Earl had a mass cell tumor above his eye. At the rate it was growing and the pain he started showing, it was determined his only course was to cross the bridge greeting those who had gone before him and to run forever painless and happy.
So there we were, as Earl’s Bank went live, in our homes with deeply sad hearts. Earl’s foster parents were heartbroken. All we could do was watch and hope you saw Earl’s situation and understood there are many more in his position that need help- thus Earl’s Bank. We decided to continue the fundraiser as is, to carry on Earl’s name, to keep him with us rather than memorialize him. Earl will always be in our hearts and with that- here we are today.
We continue to pull pups from their doomed fate in shelters, from homes that can no longer keep them, and rehoming pups for families in our Military who, out of duty to our country, can no longer keep their loved one.
Again, funds in Earl’s Bank go towards the medical needs of pups coming into our care. All medical treatment is itemized to each dog, every dollar accounted for and without further ado.
Lana- She was in similar shape as Earl was when rescued. Lana is thought to be eight years old, severely malnourished, a cloudy eye and an extremely large growth on her side. As you will read with many Boxers, she too has been sweet in the shelter and with her foster. At this time she seems to have no idea about being in a home and is learning little by little.
Stella- She was found running as a stray and seriously injured, believed to be hit and drug by a car, she was brought into a CA shelter where they report she was a sweetie even in terrible pain. With us several days now, she allows her foster to tend to her injuries without retort.
Mr. Wiggles- This fella, he has had nothing but praise since arriving at his foster home. He reads like the best guy ever. Alas, he has heartworm in a bad way and currently undergoing multiple treatments, which he is responding well to. There is always a worry of a serious reaction to the meds but so far he perceivers. Once healthy he is going to make someone a FABBBBuuuulous dog. What a love.
We need your donations now more than ever. 1) to get our medical bank coffers steady 2) to keep us on Global Giving 3) to help spread the word of our dedication, and yours, to these dogs. Their plight. Their future.
I open with THANK YOU and I close with THANK YOU. They say one's choices shows their character. We think you have a LOT of CHARACTER!
We pride ourselves on taking the utmost care of your donation and seeing each of our pups to a safe, happy place.
Sincerely,
