Wigglin' Home Boxer Rescue

This boy was seen in a field where a Good Samaritan caught and raced him to an emergency vet. There she waited by his side while he was triaged as having a severe facial injury thought to be several days old. The picture, included today, is the only one we could possibly show you or would want to show you. We were called upon to take him into our care once he is released from the vet, we answered that call with an immediate 'yes' as we know his odds are slim if he is taken to a shelter. Our transport team is ready to activate and our critical care foster home is gearing up for his arrival.

Gunner, as his Good Samaritan has named him, was lucky enough to be spotted by a human who cares, another human brave enough to try and catch a severely injured dog, transport him to medical care, and a rescue who opened its doors to him. There are only two steps left in this boy's story. Donors to help with his vet bills and a loving furever home when the time is right. Donations help us cover this boy's medical bills while allowing us to continue taking in other Boxers in need. This is where you come in.

Arriving at Wigglin' Home Boxer Rescue as an owner surrender, Tater's previous owner understood he would need more dedication and training than the average pup. We commend his owner for choosing a recognized and knowledgeable rescue rather than a shelter or risking him having multiple homes, as many do. How will we find him a home? We've found many a deaf Boxer loving, furever homes but Tater? Drumroll….Tater is already home as a member of our president DeAnn King's family! Not only that but Tater is slated to become WHBR Ambassador King Tater! Holding the title of King Tater he will be attending events, doing home checks, and dog evaluations. He will also be attending elementary schools for teaching dog etiquette, working with outpatient support groups, and visiting assisted living facilities. He is currently learning sign language and doing very well. His family consists of two Boxers and a Shepherd. The pictures of Tater were taken last weekend when he was reunited with his foster people and fur sibs (Camp Colvin) for a weekend of celebration. Big fun for a little guy.

Our past two years have been dedicated to building our rescue family as well as our presence in the rescue community. We now look to our local communities and how we can play a part there as well. In March several Police K9 officers came to do a photo shoot with our puppies. Good heavens what a bunch of fun. In May we participated in our first parade, what a HOOT. Several of our volunteers are looking into participating in free vet clinics and food for shut-in’s animals. Of course, there is King Tater and his upcoming adventures- we’ll keep you posted.

In our last report we had SO MANY PUPPIES!! They are thriving in their new homes. We have a closed Facebook page for all of our adoptive families where everyone stays in contact updating on weights, mannerisms, and plans get togethers. Such fun to follow.

JoC- introduced in our last report. This sweet ol’ gal continues to look for a home. Previously living on the street with her family they made the hard decision to surrender her to us and again, what a brilliant move rather than a shelter. JoC was in bad shape when we got her but she has pulled through. Now she needs a home to call hers. Can you help us share her INFO?

Zena- a WHBR hospice and introduced in previous reports. We thought we would have lost her by now but she continues to motor along, has put on weight, and looks like a different dog. She will continue to be loved in her hospice foster home where she has many a fur sibling to snuggle and play with.

Melody- another owner surrender and in our last report. She was adopted by her foster family! Born with Spina Bifida, it is rare for a dog to survive after diagnosis. Having lost use of her back legs she has been undergoing numerous, and costly, physical therapy treatments when the vets determined she would need a double amputation. She came through surgery like a champ and today rips around in her wheelchair playing with the other pups. A big success for her foster family. This page not only chronicles her life but gives information on Spina Bifida dogs, fundraisers for other dogs in similar need, and wheelchair education.

Sunshine- came into rescue a skinny, sick girl. Within a few days of watching her behavior before, during, and after eating her foster family got her to the vet. Pictures revealed a mass in her small intestine. Immediate surgery revealed a smooth, shiny, black rock. Sunshine is a deaf pup, has had a hard life and it seems for a long time now has had real struggles with being hungry, eating, throwing up and starting all over again. She is going to need some patience helping her learn she can eat slowly, the pain is gone, and the food will stay down. Her details can be found HERE.

Brad- introduced in our last report. Everyone LOVESSSS Brad. This guy was adopted by an amazing family who looveeesss himmmmm to pieeecessssss. He has a Facebook page under the name Brad Sands. 

Homer- another old guy deserving love and care rather than being euthanized. You can see in his pictures how we found him at a high kill shelter and how he is living now at his foster home. Big life changes for this sweet guy. 

Farewell Bernard- A couple of years ago, walking through a high-kill shelter in CA, waiting on the release of several dogs to our care, our president found Bernard pulling himself around a cold concrete kennel. When she inquired about his situation it was learned his family of many years and left him there. Knowing he would be euthanized, she decided this was not how he would spend his last days. Bernard was pulled out that day with the others. He road on the lap of a volunteer from CA to OR where he lived out his days loved and cared for. Our thanks to his foster family who opened their home to him.

Why don’t we have several new Boxers to introduce you to? We’ve been having to say “No”.

I can’t tell you the heartache as we receive information on Boxers, read of their plight, see that they have hours left, and have to turn away rather than activate the transport team. Our medical bank is so low we can’t rescue further Boxers without more funds. Giving to Earl’s Bank is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference. Just like saving money, donating money can be made “less painful” by giving a small amount every month via a monthly donation plan. Each month, on a set date you are helping us save Boxers and we in turn can count on those funds similar to counting on receiving a paycheck. We have one donor from the UK who has been giving $5 each month for over a year. Knowing we can count on that is HUGE. And speaking of “less painful”, imagine the suffering Boxers will no longer face once they can be rescued. Our very bottom line is we work for you, our donors, for we CANNOT rescue without your support. Many of you would love to be a part of rescue but life dictates that you cannot, but you can give. This is why we believe strongly in, and are required to track our finances. We handle our donations, your funds, with the utmost care.
