Women and children walk more than 5 km (3.1 miles) each way to fetch water from stagnant ponds and streams shared by animals in the neighboring communities of Mazziba and Nayahaira, Uganda. These children have missed many days of school and suffered water-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, and typhoid. These diseases have claimed many lives.
When we heard of their plight we mobilized a WHOlives sponsored Village Drill team to investigate. After meeting with local leaders we have committed to dig 2 water wells for 300 families.
The villages are very excited to participate in our community funded loan program and have already raised the down payment for their first well. WHOlives is reinvesting the monthly payments we are receiving from other villages in Uganda to help provide the needed funds for these 2 new wells.
Your donations, combined with our revolutionary Community Funded Well program is making all of this possible.
