Water security is still such a key issue in South Africa, especially with the electricity load-shedding and lack of utility maintenace of the pipes and water systems.
As a result of this desperate need, even though we have only had $100 donated to this project, we have had to go ahead and put the water tank system in at Simunye, where the older children live.
This has made such a difference to the lives of the housemothers and the children. They are able to bath and shower and was the clothes and dishes when they need to.
The need for this system is even more in the spotlight as this week, Johannesburg is having a 4 day water shutdown! With 52 children at Hearts of Hope, we would not be able to survive if it was not for the water tanks.
We really hope that we will get some donations towards this project, so that we can recoup the costs that we had to pay.
Thank-you to our donor who gave us such hope with our first donation.
