Thank you for supporting Pump Aid’s pre-school project through GlobalGiving. Your support helps transform the lives of some of the poorest communities in Malawi.
In Pump Aid’s initial visit to Mng’ona pre-school in January this year we spoke to the Traditional authority ofMduwal Village, the District Committees and members of the surrounding community. These discussions gave us a good grounding of the current situation, and the different roles in the village. This helps us understand not just how the project will contribute to the children, but how it will also benefit the surrounding community.
In addition to seeking funds through GlobalGiving, we also approached other key supporters and I am delighted to tell you we have now raised sufficient funds for this project to go ahead.
Thanks to your support we raised $709/£489 through Global Giving which has helped fund the following:
>Site Survey of the pre-school: Data has been collected from the school and health centres to understand current attendance rates at the school and health of the children.
>Mobilising the community: The community have started to gather the key materials for the construction of the water pump and toilet blocks including bricks and cement. Pump Aid has begun the hygiene behaviour change programme, working with children and carers so they can replicate the programme with future intakes.
Now we have raised the remaining funds we aim to finish the construction of the water pump and toilet blocks at the school and continue the hygiene behaviour change programme so the project can benefit the entire community.
We are really grateful for your support of this project and hope you will stay in touch with the progress of our work.
