We are excited to share how far the Uganda Water Project has come since we began this journey in Pakwach District. When we conducted our baseline assessment in 2021, approximately 60% of people in the district lacked access to clean, safe water. At that time, our project had just one community water kiosk. Today, with the generous support of our partners and donors, we have grown from one water kiosk in 2021 to 29 community water kiosks and public tap stands as of June 2026, reaching approximately 60,000 people across 116 villages.
This progress has been made possible by the incredible generosity of the Rotary Club of Webster Groves and the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves, as well as anonymous and individual donors. Together, you are helping communities spend less time searching for water and gain more reliable access to clean and safe water close to home. With your continued support, and with our new supporter, St. Augustine's Catholic College, we are now on track to reach 90,000 people by June 2027, bringing us closer to our vision of ensuring that every family in the communities we serve has access to safe water.
As our water distribution network continues to grow, we are also looking toward the future. The current government-built water tower is nearing capacity as more kiosks and public tap stands are connected to the system. To meet the growing demand, we hope to construct a complete solar-powered water tower that can supply additional communities and strengthen the sustainability of our water network. This investment would also help us expand access to clean water beyond Pakwach District into nearby areas, including Nebbi, Zombo, Madi Okollo, and other communities across the West Nile region. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to every partner and donor who has joined us on this journey. Your generosity is helping transform access to clean and safe water into better health, dignity, and hope for thousands of people.
