Bringing Healthcare Closer to Those Who Need It Most
Thanks to your support, during this reporting period our Free Medical Care Campaigns (Jornadas de Atención Médica Gratuita, or JAMG), carried out through Mobile Medical Units, continued bringing healthcare services closer to people living in highly marginalized communities in Mexico with limited access to healthcare institutions.
Between April and July 2026, our teams reached more than 282 communities across 43 municipalities in seven Mexican states: Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz. In many of these communities, families face geographic and financial barriers that make it difficult to access timely medical consultations, screenings, and treatments.
Results During This Period
Over these four months:
One person may receive more than one service during a medical campaign; therefore, the numbers of consultations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments do not represent unique beneficiaries.
María’s Story
María —whose name has been changed to protect her privacy— attended one of our Free Medical Care Campaigns seeking care for a dental problem and stomach discomfort. For her and her family, accessing healthcare can represent a significant financial challenge. María lives with lupus, and her husband has a disability, which means that at times they must prioritize paying for medications or medical consultations over other household needs.
During the campaign, María received medical and dental care, as well as the medication needed to address the condition for which she sought treatment. Her experience reflects one of the barriers faced by many of the people we serve: even when healthcare is needed, cost and distance can make it difficult to receive timely care.

“Many times, we are unable to get to the hospital because we do not have access to the services we need, and sometimes the patient simply has no way to get there. There is also the financial burden.
I have lupus, and my husband has a disability. Many times, we have had to go without things for our home or, sometimes, even food because we have to buy medication or pay for a medical consultation that we need.
Thanks to the foundation, today I came for a dental problem and a stomach problem. I received excellent care from the doctors and, most importantly, they gave me the medication I needed for my condition.
We are very grateful that you come to our municipality and that we can receive this care so close to home. You truly provide us with the dignified care that we, as patients, deserve.”
How Your Support Helped
The contributions received helped fund a portion of the medications, medical supplies, dental materials, screening tests, fuel, and maintenance required to operate our Mobile Medical Units.
These resources are essential for our teams to travel to communities every day and provide free medical and dental care.
A Need We Identified
During this period, we identified a high demand for dental care among children and adults in the communities we served.
To respond responsibly to this need, UBGA will strengthen its medical team by adding a new dentist. This will allow us to expand our capacity and provide timely care to a greater number of patients.
What Comes Next
During the next reporting period, we will continue carrying out our Free Medical Care Campaigns (JAMG) every day, through which UBGA provides ongoing, free, high-quality medical and dental care focused on addressing the healthcare needs of people living in highly marginalized communities.
As part of this effort, we will place particular emphasis on strengthening our dental services while continuing to plan our routes, maintain adequate supplies, and ensure the operation of our Mobile Medical Units.
Your support adds to the resources UBGA invests in reaching communities where distance and cost can become barriers to receiving healthcare. Stories like María’s remind us what it means to bring a medical consultation, dental treatment, or needed medication closer to a family.
Sharing this project, making another contribution, or becoming a monthly donor helps us continue these medical campaigns and strengthen our capacity to respond to the needs we identify in each community.
