Empowering Leaders, Strengthens Communities

By Maxwell Akandwanaho | Programs Associate

We are in celebration of a successful 2024. Uganda Unites successfully hosted a series of  Future Leaders Conferences across Uganda, (the #ASK24 Symposiums). These events brought together over 500 young people from Jinja, Arua, Gulu, Mbarara, and Kampala, providing them with valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through interactive discussions, and inspiring presentations, the symposiums empowered young leaders to develop essential skills, connect with like-minded individuals, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Inaddition, we continued to engage with youth in schools through our school relaation tours. Through concerted efforts across four regions of the country, we achieved a remarkable milestone: the establishment of 42 peace clubs in newly engaged schools this year. This achievement underscores our commitment to promoting peace and fostering positive social change within the education sector and communities at large.

Our teams have shown commitment to improving community well-being through a diverse range of initiatives. These efforts included a spectrum of activities, such community clean-ups in Busia and Gulu, visit to Arua Prison inmates, outreach at the Bless A Child Foundation Cancer home in Mbarara, the donation of essential mama kits and food supplies to Gulu Hospital, support for teenage mothers in Jinja, and an evening of book reading with children at the ReadToLearn and StreetLights Foundations in Namuwongo Slum. Through these endeavors, we have raised awareness about the crucial interconnectedness of sanitation, health, justice, and other vital factors that contribute to a peaceful and harmonious coexistence within our communities.

In2024 we engaged 11,986 youth, 6,270 of them signed up to be members of Uganda Unites movement. To make this possible we had 66 new volunteers sign up and donate their time and resoures to our vision.
