1. Project Overview

The "Train 3K Widows in Snail Farming" project aims to empower 3,000 widows in Southeast Nigeria with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable snail farming. This initiative is designed to enhance food security, promote economic independence, and improve the livelihoods of widows, contributing to poverty alleviation and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

2. Project Goals

Provide hands-on training in snail farming techniques to 3,000 widows.

Equip participants with resources and starter kits to begin snail farming.

Facilitate access to markets for their products.

Promote sustainable agricultural practices within the community.

3. Implementation Summary

Phase 1: Recruitment and Sensitization (Ongoing)

We are currently at the recruitment stage, identifying and registering 3,000 widows from various communities across Southeast Nigeria.

Awareness sessions are being conducted to introduce participants to the benefits of snail farming.

Phase 2: Training Sessions (Upcoming)

Participants will receive comprehensive training on snail species selection, housing, feeding, and reproduction.

Practical sessions will focus on constructing snail pens and managing their environment.

Phase 3: Starter Kits Distribution (Upcoming)

Starter kits, including snails, feed, and essential farming tools, will be distributed to all participants.

Phase 4: Monitoring and Mentorship (Upcoming)

A monitoring and mentorship system will be established to provide ongoing support and guidance to the widows.

4. Key Achievements So Far

Recruitment progress: Over 1,000 widows have been identified and sensitized, with the goal of reaching 3,000 soon.

Community engagement: Strong interest and enthusiasm have been observed among target participants.

5. Challenges Faced

Limited resources to fast-track recruitment in remote communities.

Logistical constraints in coordinating outreach programs.

6. Future Plans

Complete the recruitment process by [insert target date].

Implement training sessions and distribute starter kits to all participants.

Scale the program to neighboring regions to reach more widows.

7. Conclusion

The "Train 3K Widows in Snail Farming" project has made significant progress at the recruitment stage. The Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation is committed to ensuring the successful implementation of this initiative, which will empower widows and contribute to sustainable livelihoods across Southeast Nigeria.
