QUARTERLY REPORTTrain S/East Youth in Snail & Fish Farming Project (54738)Reporting Period: Quarterly Update

1. Introduction

This report provides an update on the progress of the Train S/East Youth in Snail & Fish Farming Project (ID: 54738). Our mission is to equip young people across Southeast Nigeria with practical skills in snail farming, fish farming, feed production, agribusiness, and sustainable agriculture to improve food security, create employment, and promote entrepreneurship.

Although we did not receive external financial support during this reporting period, we remain committed to advancing this initiative through innovation, research, volunteer efforts, and the continued support of our social enterprise.

2. Appreciation to GlobalGiving

We sincerely appreciate GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that enables grassroots organizations to connect with compassionate supporters around the world.

Although we have not yet received external donations for this project, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our vision globally. We remain hopeful that future partnerships and donor support will enable us to expand vocational agricultural training for young people across Southeast Nigeria.

3. Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project did not receive any external financial donations.

Despite this, we continued investing our own time, expertise, and limited resources through our social enterprise to sustain research, product development, programme planning, and youth engagement.

4. Project ActivitiesSnail and Fish Farming Training

We continued developing practical training modules that will equip young people with modern techniques in snail farming, fish farming, farm management, business development, and sustainable livestock production.

Development of Organic Snail Feed

A major focus during this reporting period was the continued research and development of premium organic snail feed formulated from locally available natural ingredients. Our objective is to improve snail growth, reduce production costs, and promote environmentally sustainable snail farming.

Development of Organic Fish Feed

We also continued developing high-quality organic fish feed using sustainable raw materials to improve fish growth, reduce dependence on imported feeds, and enhance the profitability of small-scale fish farmers.

Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub)

Through our Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub), we continued promoting practical training in agribusiness, feed formulation, food innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable agricultural practices to prepare young people for successful agricultural enterprises.

5. Social Enterprise Support

Although external funding has not yet been received, our social enterprise continues to sustain this project through in-kind contributions, research, innovation, volunteer engagement, and technical development.

Over the past three years, we have consistently invested in developing sustainable agricultural innovations, including nutrient-dense food products, livestock nutrition solutions, and practical farming technologies that support food security, youth empowerment, and rural development.

6. Estimated Impact

Despite limited financial resources, the project has continued to make encouraging progress.

Community Reach

  • Approximately 30–50 youths reached through agricultural awareness and agribusiness engagement.
  • 15–20 aspiring farmers introduced to opportunities in snail farming, fish farming, and sustainable livestock production.
  • Increased awareness of entrepreneurship opportunities within Nigeria's agricultural value chain.

Innovation Progress

  • Continued research and formulation of premium organic snail feed.
  • Continued development and testing of organic fish feed formulations.
  • Strengthened planning for future practical demonstrations and vocational training programmes.

Capacity Building

  • Expanded knowledge resources on snail farming, aquaculture, feed production, agribusiness management, and sustainable farming practices.

7. Challenges

The absence of external financial support continues to limit our ability to establish demonstration farms, procure production equipment, conduct practical training sessions, and scale feed production for wider community benefit.

Additional funding will enable us to train more young people, establish pilot farms, and expand the production of affordable organic snail and fish feeds.

8. Prospects and Future Plans

In the coming months, we aim to:

  • Launch practical vocational training in snail and fish farming.
  • Complete the development and pilot production of premium organic snail feed.
  • Finalize and commercialize high-quality organic fish feed formulations.
  • Establish demonstration farms for hands-on youth training.
  • Expand agribusiness mentorship and entrepreneurship support.
  • Build partnerships with agricultural institutions, farmer cooperatives, government agencies, and development partners.
  • Promote sustainable livestock production as a pathway to employment, food security, and rural economic development.

We remain confident that future donor support will enable us to empower more young people with practical agricultural skills while strengthening food production and sustainable livelihoods across Southeast Nigeria.

9. Conclusion

Although we have not yet received external financial support for this project, our commitment to empowering young people through sustainable agriculture remains unwavering. Through research, innovation, volunteerism, and the continued support of our social enterprise, we are laying a strong foundation for expanding vocational training, promoting agribusiness, and improving food security.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing this platform and look forward to partnering with donors who share our vision of empowering the next generation through sustainable snail farming, fish farming, and agricultural innovation.

With sincere gratitude,

Rosita Agomuo
