Train 360 youths for the workplace in Sao Paulo

RECESS

Dear Donor:

As informed in previous reports, our association is going through a tight financial situation. Donations have decreased due to the crisis in Brazil and despite our efforts, it´s been very difficult to find corporate funding. Fiscal incentives have also been reduced in half.

On the other hand, we´ve been very successful in our mission and are very proud of our achievements. Thanks to our organization, tens of youths are being kept off the streets and are receiving training courses that allow them to improve their income and aim for a better life. Our school runs like clockwork. During these past 18 years of activity, we have become a very solid organization. Our reputation in the neighborhood is high and we are overwhelmed by demand for applications.

Given this state of things, WE HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE A 3 MONTH RECESS. Classes will end on June 30 for the winter vacation and will restart only in October. This will allow us to reduce costs (three paid employees have temporarily been laid off) and will give us time to put ourselves together in terms of finance. During this period we will concentrate solely on fundraising efforts in order to restart in a more solid and comfortable financial state. We have several ideas and actions in the pipeline that will surely give us positive results.

In the meantime, please continue your support to our organization. We can assure you that, because our association has a strong foundation, it will soon be back in business to train more and more youths and keep them off the streets.

DIFFICULT FINANCIAL TIMES

CONCENTRATING ON READING

Dear donors,

Our financial situation is going through difficult times. In effect, we are suffering from a recent change in Brazilian legislation on fiscal incentives. This has forced us to gear up to find other sources of funding. Of course, YOUR contributions are essential to the continuing of our activities and we thank you for what you have done so far and will continue to do in the future to help our cause.

On the other hand, after two years in our new location, our entity has become very popular in the neighborhood and the demand for new applications is increasing every day. The quality of our courses is being recognized by all of those who take them. The students are suprised that the courses not only teach them skills but also teach them how to work in group, how to use respect, posture and citizenship.

When Carla applied for the Administrative Assistant course, she was accompanied by her boyfriend Eduardo (not the real names). And when Eduardo saw the contents of the course, he also applied. Eduardo has finished high school, but is unemployed and has no money to pay for a specializing course. Now both are taking the course together. This is so encouraging!

Unfortunately, we can no longer accept new students due to the reduction in funding and this is very frustrating!

We want to give more youths like the young man on the photo, Carla and Eduardo the opportunity to grow professionally and live with dignity! So be assured that we are doing our best to resolve this temporary problem in the best possible manner! Contributions are coming in very different manners. As an example, recently the French Consulate has donated us all of its used furniture which we were able to sell at good value using an online sales site.

We will spare no effort to continue our mission.

DIFFICULT TIMES

Thaian at his Social Project

Dear Donors,

Thaian is a 22 year old former student of ours who recently used the social networks to tell us how his life has changed. Thaian took Administrative Assistant and English classes at our entity.

After he completed his courses, Thaian and his mother returned to his native State of Ceará, in the Northeast of Brazil, 3,100 km away from São Paulo.

Thaian wants to be a musician but to reach his objective he needs to work and earn money. He also wants to go to college and study arts.

Thanks to what he learned at ADAE, Thaian found a job in a Social Project and at the end of this month he will receive his first paycheck. He is also helping other youngsters to learn English as a volunteer.

Stories like this one only encourages us to keep doing the best we can to continue our mission of preparing youngsters for the workplace.

This year 120 youngsters took courses at ADAE. We want to continue our mission and even do more. But we have lost one of our most important sources of funds which came from the government of the Sate of Sao Paulo.

We are having enormous financial difficulties and badly need help. Many actions are being taken towards sourcing funds with corporations and other entities. We have hired a Marketing and Sales specialist to sell our image within the corporate community in order to get recurring donations and thus have a stable cash flow. The French Consulate, for example has donated a huge quantity of used furniture which we are trying to sell.

But in the end, what would be of us without the support of all our donors? So we would like to sincerely thank you for your precious support.
