Hello NairoBits Community,
Warm greetings and immense gratitude from the "Tech Skills & Jobs for 1000 Underserved Youth - Kenya" NairoBits Trust project! Your continued support drives our progress, and we're excited to share the impactful strides we've made this year.
Project Overview
The GirlsGo project, an extension of NairoBits, an All Girl-Sistech program initiated in 2015, addresses the gender disparity in ICT-related skills and job opportunities. Our mission is to empower young women from disadvantaged backgrounds to thrive in the fast-paced digital era.
Project Impact
Since its inception in April 2022, GirlsGo has transformed the lives of young women in three significant ways:
Training Achievements:
As of September 2023, NairoBits has successfully recruited and trained:
We've made significant progress towards empowering young women with essential digital skills. Notably, establishing a project centre in a rural area expands our reach to underserved communities, providing unprecedented access to digital literacy training.
Collaboration with Lenovo Foundation:
The collaboration between NairoBits and Lenovo Foundation, exemplified in the GirlsGo project, aims to bridge the gender gap in ICT-related skills. In phase II, we recruited and trained 223 girls, aligning with Lenovo's mission of empowering marginalized communities through technology and STEM education.
Future Opportunities:
Through the TransforMe award and additional funding from the Lenovo Foundation, we see a tremendous opportunity to impact even more girls, advancing their technical capacity for better livelihoods. This aligns with Lenovo's goal of impacting 1 million lives by 2025.
Continued Support:
Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our achievements. We invite you to continue this transformative journey with us as we look ahead. Together, we can empower more underserved youth and create lasting change.
Thank you for being an integral part of our dedicated community.
