Summary

A significant portion of in-need youth in Kenya lack access to digital skills exacerbating the digital divide, restricting their ability to participate in the digital economy and secure meaningful employment, inadvertently limiting opportunities and perpetuating poverty; Without digital literacy, young people are less likely to break free from the cycle of poverty and contribute to societal progress. Your donation means creating a ripple effect on 5000 youth while uplifting over 250,000 lives.

Challenge

Youth unemployment in Kenya is majorly contributed by lack of job opportunities and the barriers that impede entry into employment, such as low technical capacity, limited work experience, and the competition brought about by the ever-increasing population. Unemployment prevents many young people from leading quality lives and largely affects those living in informal settlements and from disadvantaged backgrounds, including persons with disabilities and young women.

Solution

The digital economy is skills-oriented and provides opportunities for all, regardless of educational or social background. This program will open up possibilities for careers in tech for young people who would otherwise lack the chance to develop the skills they need to be competitive in the job market. Access to the program would also bridge the digital divide through access to the internet and digital devices for young people. Improved access grants them the opportunity to learn new skills.

Long-Term Impact

This program will provide 5000 young people from underprivileged backgrounds with access to quality digital skills training, leading to socio-economic transformation. The digital skills will empower young people to improve their career prospects, access and retain jobs, and engage their communities, improving their quality of life. The program empowers young people to use their skills and knowledge to positively impact their communities contributing to the overall goal of reaching 250,000.
