A great day to all of you, Global Givers!
Did you know that our organization, National Confederation of Cooperatives or simply NATCCO Network is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this 2017? It has been an ally and supportive partner of more than 900 local cooperatives all over the Philippines for years and years. And aside from that, 2017 is also a year of celebration for our team, the Children and Youth Team, for this year marks the 10th year of Aflatoun here in our country! Isn’t that amazing? We’ve already had a decade of empowering the Filipino children!
And as a part of this special milestone, we have prepared something exceptional! Last May 23- 24, 2017, we have conducted, yet another Youth Forum that coincides with NATCCO’s Ruby Anniversary Celebration in Legend Villas Hotel in Mandaluyong City. Youth coordinators, advocates, and leaders were invited for this 2-day gathering and were stirred with talks from local and international speakers particularly invited for this event with the theme: Enterprising, Inspiring, Transforming toward the Golden Future.
We had speakers from National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Bayan Academy, Woven Philippines, ABF Integrated Farms and Agribusiness Center Inc., Fennel Philippines, International Cooperative Alliance, Aflatoun International, and National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) all of whom inspired and motivated 64 delegates from different regions to take part in achieving our nation's mission and vision for the years to come.
For the 1st day, we had NEDA's Development Communication Director, Nerissa Esguerra talk about Ambisyon 2040 and the Youth's Socio-Economic Prospects. Millennials taking the lead was the topic Ms. Angeli Siladan from Bayan Academy. The co-founder of Woven Philippines, John Francia shared the origin of their business—doing good, helping others, and making a difference all at the same time. Our Agripreneur speaker, Mr. Brian Belen, shared how imagination and innovation helps the young farmers of today lead for the future. Mr. Vincent Perez of Fennel Philippines discussed about the importance and power of branding and effective messaging in sustaining enterprises today.
We've invited Mr. Balu Iyer, Regional Director from ICA-AP, Mr. Roeland Monasch, Chief Executive Officer of Afaltoun International, and lastly, Mr. Josh Cezar Serilo, Youth Sector Representative of National Anti-Poverty Commission, for the 2nd day session. They've talked about the role of the Youth in the 21st Century World.
As reflected on our event's evaluation result, our participants definitely enjoyed, reflected, and realized how important their role is in shaping our nation's future. And that being part and being categorized as Millennials, isn't actually so bad, it's actually an advantage. Do you agree, Global Givers?
Would have loved to have you in our next activites, till next update!
