A great day to all of you, GlobalGivers! Another year, same advocacy for us!
Our team has always prioritized the children and the Youth and as a part of our mission to empower them, we have conducted a 2-day Regional Youth Forum with the theme: “Game-Changers, Change-Makers: The Millennial Takeover” last November 12-13, 2016. Every two years, we also organize National Youth Forums, but the exciting about this forum was that it’ll be conducted simultaneously in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao! For the very first time!
Each year, our purpose is to provide pertinent knowledge to our participants about matters concerning our country. And since the year 2016 has been brimming with diverse issues, we have minimized our focus to 3 significant topics for the Youth Forum: Drug Awareness, Disaster Risk Management, and Agriculture. And for this, we have invited speakers who facilitated workshops and lively discussion from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Red Cross of the Philippines, Department of Health (DOH), and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
More than a hundred of Youth leaders from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao participated in the Forum which was held in NSCC Plaza Hotel in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur (Luzon), in Hidden Valley Spring Resort in Pinamungajan, Cebu (Visayas), and in Eden Resort in Toril, Davao City (Mindanao).
As much as possible, we strive to make all of our activities for the Children and the Youth fun and unforgettable and we take pride in saying that our previous events showed positive feedbacks from our participants. That’s why, aside from enriching talks and discussion, the forum ended with the session: Coop Pitch. In this session, the Youth leaders had the opportunity to formulate, discuss, and present projects and ideas which aim to solve any future conflict in the three main topics: Drug Awareness, Disaster and Risk Management, and Agriculture.
Want to learn more about the Program and stay updated with NATCCO Youth activities? Find us online by checking out our Facebook Page: Aflatoun Philippines and Facebook Group: Aflatoun sa Pinas! It has been a penchant of NATCCO's Children and Youth Team to showcase the fun and exciting stories from all over the Network to develop healthy communication and sharing of practices for everyone. We hope to inspire creativity and innovation for your future undertakings - big and small - that can help strengthen our advocacy for social and financial literacy and youth empowerment in cooperatives.
Till next update, keep saving!
