Since we have become a part of the Aflatoun Global Community, every year, we encourage and assist our partner cooperatives and schools to participate in the special celebration of Aflatoun International Day and Global Money Week. Last March 30, we have joined the celebration and some of our partner cooperatives from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao prepared something a little special for the kids.
From Luzon, the cooperatives were Sacred Heart Savings Cooperative, Sta. Cruz Savings and Development Cooperative, Gubat St. Anthony Cooperative, Kapandesal Multipurpose Cooperative. In Visayas: Lamac Multi-purpose Cooperative, Iloilo City Public School Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, Southern Leyte Employees Multipurpose Cooperative. Tagum Cooperative, Sta. Catalina Credit Cooperative, MSU-IIT National Multipurpose Cooperative, Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative was very participative in different division of Mindanao.
There were inspirational talks, poster-making, song and dance competition and a whole lot more! Children were able to explore their skills and talents thru mini-games and quiz bees, too. In other parts of the country, there were some who made use of their artistic skills and did hand-painting sessions, slogan-making, and poster making with the Global Money Week theme: Learn, Earn, and Save. And before the end of the activity, the children had the chance to connect and talk with other savers from different region and parts of the world thru Skype call. The main objective of all these activities is to help the children into realizing their abilities and talents, rights and responsibilities, and to practice their leadership and social skills.
There’s an estimate of 750 students who joined this year’s Aflatoun International Day and Global Money Week celebration. Next year's celebration will definitely filled with fun and learning, too!
Till next update, Global Givers.
