Thanks to your support, thousands of migrant women and girls continue to have life-saving information in the palm of their hands, when and where they need it most.
At Ipas Latin America and the Caribbean (Ipas LAC), we work to ensure that women and people who can become pregnant have access to accurate, rights-based reproductive health information. Through this commitment, the Te Acompaño chatbot has become a key digital tool supporting migrant communities in Mexico, providing clear and reliable guidance on sexual and reproductive health services, even in contexts where access to information is limited or uncertain.
The need for accessible and reliable information is clear. As Lourdes Faviel, Health Team Leader at Médicos del Mundo, explains:
“Many of these women, and especially girls, who travel along this migration route have experienced various forms of violence, primarily sexual violence. Upon arriving in Mexico, they also face a range of additional challenges.”
In this context, Te Acompaño provides crucial, easy-to-access guidance on reproductive health services. Through the chatbot, users can find:
In May 2026, we strengthened this tool by updating the chatbot’s content and expanding its maps to include 1,194 access points for misoprostol or mifepristone across 15 states, prioritizing key migration routes.
Since its launch in September 2023, the Te Acompaño chatbot has reached more than 18,472 people and facilitated over 15,116 conversations. It is actively used and promoted by approximately 14 civil society organizations and national, local, and regional health institutions working directly with migrant communities. Notably, 41% of all interactions come from Chiapas and Tabasco, two states with high concentrations of migrants, demonstrating that the chatbot is successfully reaching people along key migration routes where access to reliable information is most urgent. These patterns of use highlight the chatbot’s growing role as a trusted and accessible source of reproductive health information in complex and high-need contexts.
With your continued support, Te Acompaño can keep evolving to meet the needs of migrant women and girls, expanding its reach, strengthening its content, and ensuring that reliable, life-saving information is available when it matters most. As digital tools become an increasingly vital pathway to safe abortion access, your support helps us ensure that no one, navigating complex and uncertain journeys, is left without the guidance they need to make informed decisions about their health.
"From Ipas LAC, we feel deeply proud of this work. We do not seek to position ourselves as experts in migration, but rather to share our agenda and learnings with those who are." - Ipas LAC team
