Hello and Happy Holidays Global Givers!
It is hard to believe it, but 2016 is almost done. The semester is over but GlobeMed at Cornell isn't done working! We've had a successful semester with an amazing group of new and old staff members. In addition to welcoming new members into the fold and teaching them about the amazing things at GlobeMed at Cornell and AMMID do together, our campaigns committee has developed new strategies in raising funds for our partner organization, AMMID.
This semester we had one large event, the Global Health Gala. The focus was celebrating Mental Health with speakers Jacob Carver of the Medal Health Association, who spoke about fighting mental health stigma, and Kristi Taylor from the Advocacy Center, who spoke of the challenges in seeking services when in abusive relationships and support services available to those in need. The event was a success, and general feedback was positive from those who attended.
In addition to the Global Health Gala we had three smaller events. In September we held a drink fundraiser for our drink, the Purifier, in conjunction with Collegetown Bagles. For every drink sold, GlobeMed at Cornell recieved $1.00. Later on during the semester we held a similar fundraiser with another Ithaca based cafe, Manndibles with the drink the GlobeMed Skimmer. We also held a finals week bake sale to top off the semester!
With such success from this last semester- we are looking forward to continue working together with AMMID-and with you to pursue our goals. Once again, thank you all for your continued support- none of what we do would be possible without your help. Please continue to join us in our goal of achieving global health and social justice. Wishing you a restful and joyful holiday season!
Lots of GlobeMed Love!
