One more student supported in 2017
By Jerome Kabakyenga | Project Leader
With donations from GlobalGiving Mayanja Memorial Hospital Foundation has been able to partially support one student who is enrolled for a certificate course in nursing. This very student lost her father last year and was not able to continue her studies as her father was the sole sponsor. The student was identified as the most needy for support. The donations received from Global Giving will cover about 50% of the programme costs while Mayanja Memorial Medical Training Insitute will sponsor the remaining portion. It is expected that with this support the student will be able to complete her studies in May 2018.
Thanks go to the GlobalGiving donors and staff for making this possible.

By Jerome Kabakyenga | Project Leader
Thanks to Global Giving support: Over the past five years 30 students supported by Global Giving through Mayanja Memoraial Hospital Foundation (MMHF) were enabled to complete their nursing courses and later on registered and lincenced to work as Nurses. All the students (now nurses) are employed in various health care facilities (government, private not for profit, private). The Nurses are able to earn a monthly salary and able to contribute to the welfare of their families. MMHF is calling on wellwishers to provide support so as to enable more needy students complete their nursing course. MMHF extends thanks and appreciation to one Global Giving donor who has supported the foundation with 24 donations in the year 2016.We attest that the support given over the past 5 years has changed the lives of recipients and their families. We hope those who have been supported will be in position to help other disadvantaged persons whereever they may be. We pray the year 2017 brings in more donors so that more needy students can be supported.

2 students passed final state examinations.
By Jerome Kabakyenga | Project Leader
The two students who sat their final state nursing/midwifery examinations in May 2016 passed. The students earned certification in enrollment. They have been registered by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and can practice Nursing/Midwifery at enrollment level. The 2 students had faced financial challenges and were not going to complete their courses. Thanks to Global Giving donors whose financial support at the time of need. We hope the families of these two nurses will be empowered through one of their own having a qualification that will get paid employment. In a low income country such as Uganda there are many bright but needy children who qualify to be assisted to move ahead. The two students extend their sincere thanks to Global Giving donors.
