16 Students Graduate with Nursing Certificate

On 12th December 2014 Mayanja Memorial Training Institute held its first Graduation Ceremony. The colourful graduation was held at the Institute Grounds in Mbarara City in South Western Uganda. Of the 435 who graduated on that day 16 were supported with scholarships from Global Giving. Fifteen graduates attained enrolled certificates in Nursing while one attained a certificate in Midwifery. Most of the graduates have secured jobs in public/private health facilities. Our thanks go to Global Giving for having made this possible and our heartfelt acknowledgements go to the so many persons who donated the funds through Global Giving. Three students supported by Global Giving passed final examinations in January 2015 and will graduate in November 2015.
Included in the report are photos of the graduates (beneficiaries of Global Giving scholarships) taken at the function.

25 students to Graduate on December 12, 2014

Greetings to Globa Giving Family.
The first graduation ceremony for Mayanja Memorial Training Institute is scheduled for December 12, 2014 and about 400 students will be awarded various certificates. Since 2011 Global Giving has supported 25 students and 24 of these have successfully completed their courses and are due to graduate on December 12, 2014. This group of 24 is composed of 11 female and 14 male students. The graduation will be a reunion of these students. Mayanja Memorial Foundation will use this opportunity to capture stories of these students covering the period from when they left the Institute. The student stories will be presented in the upcming reports. The majority of the students are already employed in health facilities and other health institutions. The foundation extends thanks to Global Giving and Mayanja Memorial Institute for having made it possible for these students to attain nursing certificates.

Two students supported by Global Giving pass Exams

Early this week on monday 11th August 2014 the results from national examinations for certificate comprehensive nursing examinations were announced. Two (2) students supported by Global Giving were among those who passed these examinations. The two students are to register with the the Council for Nurses and Midwives. This will make them eligible to be employed by any health institution/project in the country (Uganda). The cumulative total number of students supported by Global Giving now stands at twenty four (24).
Thanks to Global Giving for enabling these 2 students to go through the nursing course. These students come from poor and vulnerable families which can not raise enough funds to meet the course fees. The support came at the moment they needed it badly. Had it not been support from Global Giving these students would not have completed their courses. It is our hope that the students will get employed and make their cotribution to their country and families.
Mayanja Memorial Hospital Foundation is very appreciative to Global Giving for all the support given that has enabled the 24 students to earn certificates in nursing. Thanks to all those who have made it possible.
